Full Version: Transmission shift bushes

Hi all,

Time to refurbish my shift bushes etc. the photo below seems to offer a good deal. Does anyone have any comments about this vendor or other possibly better sources.

I think these are the only 4 items I need- from my inspection of my car and of PET. Correct?

I think you may be missing one bushing if this is for a side shift linkage. There should be a bushing where the linkage rod passes through the fire wall, two in the shift rod coupling (the black pair shown), one at the shift console support bracket at the transmission, and the cup bushing at the shift rod entering the tranny.

I prefer the metal bushings at the firewall and shift console on the gearbox.

Mark will have all the resin based products. I don't know what material they're made from. But they start as a pellet.

Use Chris's excellent firewall bushing, and I use the bronze one in the rear.

It would be more accurate to say, "don't buy OEM-style bushings with oval holes if you want the tightest possible shifter", since even the dealer will give you oval-hole bushings which are intentionally designed to provide a bit of u-joint flexibility to reduce lever vibration and wear elsewhere in the linkage.

If you want "tight" shifting and don't care about vibration, get aftermarket performance bushings that have round holes.
