Hi all...
I have a "clunk clunk" that I feel in my hand on the tie rods. This is when someone rocks the steering wheel back and forth. Front end up in the air. Newish Lemforder turbo tie rods and ball joints. Feels the same on both sides.
Car is a 74 2 liter.
Is this normal?

What is it like on the ground? Jfyi: the nut off the column can hit the dash with the suspension unloaded...doesn't sound like that from your description but...

No, it's definitely a clunk I can feel in the tie rods.
I was hoping someone else might have their front end off the ground and maybe they could try it!!

I recently had a similar "clunk". It ended up that my steering rack was toast.
I replaced it.....problem solved.

OK thanks!! This is good. Just want to make sure I don't go to ALL that work for nothing!!
