Vehicle is a 1970 Porsche 914-6 with a 'common' side-shifter transmission upgrade. (like 1973 on transmission)

I ordered part # 911 424 139 00 per PET for 1973 shift linkage. My part has a ridge in it to keep it from going too deep into the holder. The new part does not.

Photo attached, sorry if upside down, the original pat is the darker one.

I've only owned the car the last 26 years, not sure if this is a standard 1973 side-shifter part or not. Can anyone offer suggestions?Click to view attachment

I'm pretty sure that ridge is worn in from use. Your new one appears correct.

Ah... OK, thanks. So the ball cup just slides in and 'locates itself'? I was thinking the ridge held it in place. Not a problem that it could move?

You have to pop the ball cup onto the ball first.
