I had my vinyl covered seats, which were old, hot and sticky, recovered in the original tartan cloth. What do you think?

Your seats look great. I have always liked the Tartan seats in the 914.

The back pad speakers work better than I imagined. Since they are close to my head and ears, I balance the stereo so they sound similar in volume to the floor speakers, but the music is much clearer now when I drive with the roof off than just floor speakers alone were.

Nice, but you will have to get used to not having to peel yourself off the seat after a long hot drive!

At least they're cloth now, they used to by vinyl, see first picture! Think that was hot and sticky on a warm day?

I paid about $130 for a yard and a half of the tartan material from SMS (AA is the same material), and I paid an upholstery shop $130 to do both seats. I had the online tutorial on doing it myself, but didn't have a sewing machine powerful enough to do the job right. The upholstry shop took a few weeks as he is a busy guy. Is that what you wanted to know?

I would consider a UV protector on the plaid. I also use UV protectant on the cocomats, keeps everything bright. The first set of plaid seats we installed lost half the color in one week of intense sun.

I picked up these modified stock seats from my upholsterer last night.
These are for Chucky. Using this Fabric UV Protectant (not the cheapest)
