Request from those who live in the WCC area,
My wife and daughters have decided to come along and want directions to the closest public beaches. Thanks in advance.
Allan
You will be right next to Ventura with Santa Barbara right up the road. Great beaches. The pier at Santa Barbara also has a couple of really good seafood places.

Head out the 101 North to Ventura and exit as Seaward Ave. There is a nice state beach, Market, food and such nearby as well.

See all that Blue stuff? That's the Ocean. Right next to the Ocean is the Beach.

You've been inland too long biggrin.gif
You can head out Las Posas Road and go left on Pacific Coast Highway. Call it PCH so people don't think you're from AZ. You'll go through Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Newport, San Diego, Acapulco, and end up in Tierra del Fuego.
Loooooooooong road. beerchug.gif

The Closest Nice Beach Is Point Mugu just 10 minutes or so south of Camarillo on PCH.
There are beaches in Oxnard but Pt Mugu is more scenic.
If they want to go in the water, be sure and go in near a manned lifeguard tower.
The water is a bit chiily still at about 57 degrees.
Here is a Great link for checking out the beaches.

If you're visiting... don't rule out ZUMA and Malibu. They're good for touristy reasons. And they're just down the canyon from many of our activities.

Trust me. If they dont want to go far from Camarillo then Go to Seaward Ave in Ventura. Its right off the freeway and no chance of getting lost.

State Beach with toilets
IN n OUT burger.
Grocery store
Sushi
NIce walk up the beach to Ventrua Pier and only a few more minutes to Main ST. shops with Ice cream/coffee/movies and great thrift stores full of weird junk.
5 minutes to the Mall (not great but its a mall after all)
Casa Soria Mexican Food or Corrales Mexican Food mueba.gif (A little ways off but worth finding)

Ventura is cool.

Mrs. Olsen's Coffee Cup at Hollywood by the Sea for Breakfast = Yum
Maybe I'll be eating there Saturday.

If they want more of an adventure then Malibu is always just down the road.
