Stripping them off an engine and want to know if they go on the shelf to sell or in the scrap pile to recycle.

No pics yet, but outer shell looks stainless (or other non rusting metal) and inner pipes look conventional (light rust and in decent shape).

Tried to give mine away. Ended up in scrap pile.

They're NOT stainless steel.
Dave_Darling
Typical price on those is "Get them the **** outta here and they're yours!"

Yep, unfortunately not worth much at all. Jog around the block exhaling only through a straw. That's kinda how a Type 4 engine feels with those on it.

I hate the phrase "testing the waters"... dry.gif

And yet I can't find a set for my project. I keep hearing. Had some. Scrapped them because nobody wanted them. sad.gif

Value ?.....less than '75- '76 bumpers .....which are worth $0.
N_Jay
Ok, into the scrap pile.

Anything else I need to know about late 2.0 motors?

Bug valve adjusting lugs will plug the air injection holes (if any are there).

Thanks.

Yes they suck, but someday some concours weenie will want them. Might have to hang onto them for quite a while.

I will take the following items for my '76

- Rear bumper
- Heater boxes
- Mounting bracket for air pump pulley off of crank

Must be NOS or near mint.
If you think they are worth nothing I will take them off your hands for well.......nothing.
If will arrange pick up or freight depending on where they are.

Heat exchangers are already committed.
I will get a picture of the air pump pulley to see if it is good enough for you.

The best part of the later system is the stubs that bolt to the exhaust ports. Those can be used for a type 4 conversion in a VW
