Hi,

The ID tag in the front trunk has been painted black. I'd like to return it to the standard natural metal.

1) Paint remover etc? Goof off?
2) Remove, clean and replace with rivets OR leave on car and clean?

Thanks

Jasco paint remover. Make sure you tape off area really good. DO NOT REMOVE ID TAG FROM CAR

Those rivets don't look original. You can remove the tag, restore it and replace it.

There's a lot of debate on do / don't remove. Legally, you're not supposed to. However, if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it... well you know where I'm going with that.

I would remove, clean up with stripper / acetone / etc, and re-rivet with the most original looking rivets I could find for my peace of mind.

Do whatever you like.
Not too many rivet police on duty anymore.
