Hi all. Got my car inspected the other day, and it failed because of the exhaust leak. Turns out the exhaust leak is because the tits with the threads that hold the studs are broken off, so I'll need a new head to fix it properly.
Anyway, I'd like for my car to pass, so is there something I can do to seal the hole just for 5 minutes of running? The shop is a 30 second downhill trip from my work, so I thought I could do the fix and then roll down the hill to the shop, and it would only have to be started long enough to get in the garage, get looked at, and get the sticker put on. After that, I don't care. Once it's got the sticker....
Anyway, I was thinking about some red silicone or something? Just something to stop the noise for 5 minutes. Any thoughts? Maybe some tin can JB welded to the head and to the manifold? confused24.gif

Thanks!

Would a C-note wrapped in nomex work?

Fixing a stud is painful enough. Undo a quick fix would make it worse.

Hmmmm,
Is the inspector doesn't mind smelling burning JB weld... that stuff is bullet proof unless you apply 1.000 degree heat..... then it catches fire.....

In another life I once used flame proof cloth, a tin can and some tie wire strategically placed did the trick..... on a street bike... biggrin.gif

This might work too. of course i'm sure it would be a bitch to get it off once it cured blink.gif
