Got my new pods(aftermarket style) what speakers are you using in these pods?.brand and size?
Thank you
Eddy

Steve
There all standard 6" speakers. I'm running infinitys from Best Buy. Since the speakers are not enclosed, they still sound tinnny compared to mounting them in the doors. I just bought a subwoofer. I'm hoping it will help the sound.

You need to put the foam baffles behind them. Helps trap the sound.

What foam baffles? I didn't get those? Do you have a picture?

I have the pods plus door speakers. The pods have Blaupunkt 6" and the doors are BA 6". The Blaupunkt sound decent, but the BA's in the doors have far more bass. Adding a sub would be a good compromise.

What is the link to the page for the speaker grills? I couldn't find them on the site.

Note that while they say "door speaker", they're not, they're pods that go where the OEM speaker grilles go.

Anyone have a picture of these mounted in a car?

I have a set of these, very nice, screw into the existing holes. Be prepared to dremel out the speaker hole though.
Would like to hear more about the "foam baffles" as well because there is almost no bass.

Rockford Fosgate R165X3 6.5" 3-ways in the pods, matching Rockford Fosgate R1525X2 5.25" 2-ways in the doors (existing holes). Speaker grills on the 6.5s were actually a little too big for the pods, in that they extend about 1/4" beyond the round part of the pod (see second picture) . . . but it's not noticeable unless you're specifically looking for it.

BTW, I used VHT "wrinkle paint" on the pods to get that texture. Still need to drill a new hole in the long reinforcement for the bottom screw in each pod.

Hope this helps!

They're good, though it's hard to tell over the carb'ed engine (and I'm old) biggrin.gif

They didn't have them at any of the local shops, so I bought them on Amazon (~ $30 to 35 per pair).

Here's a link to the 3-ways I used in the pods:

I bought the foam baffles on Amazon. Should be here Thanksgiving weekend.

That is a very nice install. What are you using for a head unit?

Let me know how well these work. These could be easily made. If I can make one stop shopping I will.

Thanks!

I'm using a Sony CDX-GT23W. No ipod connection, but it does play .mp3 discs. And it was already sitting on the shelf . . . .

It looks OK, though maybe a little modern. If I were starting from scratch, I might go with something that looks a little more "period correct," maybe a retrosound Becker look-alike unit.

Thanks again!
