Well, we didn't have as big a turn out as WCC, but the company was great and the roads were freaking AMAZING.

Thanks to all our OK friends for setting this one up!!!!!

Oddly, the Texas crew was the first on the scene.....

Clay holding court at the Kiamichi Inn....

Joseph (Joseph222), Bryan, and Curt (VSG914) checking out the Texas' rides...

this is Bob's (Clay's neighor and soon to be club member) '75. Bob is the original owner....very cool

Stopped halfway up Winding Stair Mountain.....

At the drive in in Mena, Arkansas. Take a good close look at the "bumpers" in this picture.. Leave it to an Okie to put plywood bumpers on his 914!!! lol2.gif
ClayPerrine
The run back to Talahina. I was in the passenger seat on the way back (after getting yelled at for driving too fast on the way to Mena! driving.gif )
ClayPerrine
Dinner was burgers cooked on the "golfball" grill (sans the pink tee). Lots of sitting around BSing and talking.

ClayPerrine
We had an unexpected addition to the festivities. You can also see the wooden bumpers better here. Later after it got dark, we threatened to burn them on the grill to stay warm...... happy11.gif

I want to publicly thank Joseph for setting this up. smilie_pokal.gif smilie_pokal.gif smilie_pokal.gif Everyone had a great time and I think that Bob and Debbie will be back to another event.

See you all at breakfast on the 30th.

I would also like to thank Clay for dinner and Joseph for putting this all together.
Can't wait till next year. biggrin.gif

Great pics guys. Thanks to all that showed up. smilie_pokal.gif

We had blue sky weather, the drive was great fun - and a bit more intense then I thought it would be, mainly because there was hardly any traffic at all - so we kept it wound up pretty tight. It was mainly 4th & 5th gear with some 3rd gear switch backs. I took one handed pics thru the windshield - I'll post a few. Some of them will look familiar. biggrin.gif

I also shot some in-car video, but I'm new to this medium and don't know how to process it just yet - later.

Here we are getting a running start for the climb up to Winding Stair mountain. biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
Lots of fast sweepers... and the road is never flat... biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
Lots of downhill switchbacks - easy to overcook, but no one got into
any great trouble. Well, my rear got loose a few times, but hey, I'm still workin' on my corner balance.... biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
Here we are, halfway up Winding Stair Mountain. Clay is letting Betty's brakes cool off. I'm standing behind a bush. biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
At this point, the only traffic we encountered were a few equestrians, which we all managed to avoid. As far as I'm concerned, let's "share the road". biggrin.gif

Here's three steeds. rolleyes.gif
Joseph Mills
In the foreground is Craig's 2.2L -6 conversion that has a lot of nicely fabricated details in the engine compartment he has done himself.
Joseph Mills
Off for more friggin' climbing! 13% grades! I could hear everyone downshifting! biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
A quick tap on the brakes. biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
Clay pushing the final uphill before the we arrive at the lodge.
Joseph Mills
Suddenly... and I mean, all of a sudden... we're there. wacko.gif

If I'd had more presence of mind, I would have a proper shot of John's (JR914), great wheels.
Joseph Mills
Bob and Debbie's very nice one owner...

He said he did several 5k mile tours around the US in the seventies...

Oh... I forgot...it has "air"... biggrin.gif

It handles... and it's cool.... rolleyes.gif
Joseph Mills
John (jr91472), just put his teener back on the road after a severe bout on the jack stands. biggrin.gif

He drove it nice and smooth and fast. In fact, kept getting faster! smilie_pokal.gif
Joseph Mills
Back on the road to do it again! w00t.gif

Rewind...

In front is Curt (vsg914), pulling Bob & Debbie, followed by Craig (cametal), and his daughter Jeniffer, and in front of me, Betty & Clay.

Joseph Mills
Shot this over my shoulder twice... the other one was just a shot of my trunk.biggrin.gif

Here is John pushing me out of a turn...
Joseph Mills
And then suddenly the "tour" is over!

And then there is the decadence that followed...

The DRINKING! ohmy.gif
Joseph Mills
And...

THE EATING! chowtime.gif

Craig, as he's eating, slaps his forehead and thinks, "I could have had a V-8!" (private joke)
Joseph Mills
Curt & Clay perusing a map...

Tomorrow morning... we will all need it. biggrin.gif
Joseph Mills
Here we are safe and sound! smilie_pokal.gif

Left to right:

Craig and his daughter Jeniffer, John, Betty & Clay, Bob & Debbie, and Curt.

Here's the pics I promised. Just picked two. The rest looked just like everyone else's.
