Well, we didn't have as big a turn out as WCC, but the company was great and the roads were freaking AMAZING.

Stopped halfway up Winding Stair Mountain.....

At the drive in in Mena, Arkansas. Take a good close look at the "bumpers" in this picture.. Leave it to an Okie to put plywood bumpers on his 914!!!

The run back to Talahina. I was in the passenger seat on the way back (after getting yelled at for driving too fast on the way to Mena! )

Dinner was burgers cooked on the "golfball" grill (sans the pink tee). Lots of sitting around BSing and talking.

We had an unexpected addition to the festivities. You can also see the wooden bumpers better here. Later after it got dark, we threatened to burn them on the grill to stay warm......

I want to publicly thank Joseph for setting this up. Everyone had a great time and I think that Bob and Debbie will be back to another event.

We had blue sky weather, the drive was great fun - and a bit more intense then I thought it would be, mainly because there was hardly any traffic at all - so we kept it wound up pretty tight. It was mainly 4th & 5th gear with some 3rd gear switch backs. I took one handed pics thru the windshield - I'll post a few. Some of them will look familiar.

I also shot some in-car video, but I'm new to this medium and don't know how to process it just yet - later.

Here we are getting a running start for the climb up to Winding Stair mountain.

Lots of fast sweepers... and the road is never flat...

Lots of downhill switchbacks - easy to overcook, but no one got into
any great trouble. Well, my rear got loose a few times, but hey, I'm still workin' on my corner balance....

Here we are, halfway up Winding Stair Mountain. Clay is letting Betty's brakes cool off. I'm standing behind a bush.

At this point, the only traffic we encountered were a few equestrians, which we all managed to avoid. As far as I'm concerned, let's "share the road".

Here's three steeds.

In the foreground is Craig's 2.2L -6 conversion that has a lot of nicely fabricated details in the engine compartment he has done himself.

Off for more friggin' climbing! 13% grades! I could hear everyone downshifting!

Bob and Debbie's very nice one owner...

He said he did several 5k mile tours around the US in the seventies...

Oh... I forgot...it has "air"...

It handles... and it's cool....

John (jr91472), just put his teener back on the road after a severe bout on the jack stands.

He drove it nice and smooth and fast. In fact, kept getting faster!

Back on the road to do it again!

push rod tube! it was almost all of the way out.
retainer spring was inside the tube & not holding it in.
running great now that i'm not trying to enjoy the twisties.
