Winter 2005 my 914 will go under the knife for phase one of my /6 conversion. The 5 lug suspension, so what style rims are you using. I like the looks of the boxster rims that jim912928 has on his car. I also like the 944 phone dials that groot has on his track car. I know there is also the 911 fuchs, what are you using? Here is a picture of the patient wub.gif

I use 16x6 Fuchs - classic look and great fit.

I supposedly own 2 sets of cookie cutters. One should be shipped to me soon. The other...? Who knows.

Cookies have the right offset for stock fenders, usually come in 7", and seem to be the cheapest 5 lug wheel around. You can fit 215 or 225s on them when you do go to flares, and you can space them out at the same time.

Demick
6x16 are a good way to go for the street. Stock fenders, and you can run a fairly high performance tire while maintaining near stock tire diameter. Then, if you want to go to the track, get an extra set of 6x15's with 205/50 track tires.

Here's mine with 6x16's.

Most run the bigger Fuchs on flared 914s....you can get 16x7s and 8s.....but with spacers and such you can run ANY 5x130 wheel....

Go to the Wheel Enhancement site or check out the ad in Excellence and see what they have.

The Rocket...below was GT flared and I ran 225/45 and 245/45s on 16x7and 8s....I ran a i/2 in spacer on the rear for a better track and to fill the wheel wells to the maximum....

15x7 and 15x8 Fuchs. They fit under the stock fenders (as long as they're the fenders that came stock on a GT) wink.gif

I'm admittedly WAY stuck in the early 70's but I think it's hard to beat classic Fuchs. I agree with James and Demick, 6x16 would be the ones I would hunt down for a narrow bodied car. They're plentiful, cheap and you can get decent tires for them...

Demick... 205/50 x15's didn't fit my car. They're all different and with a little hand pulling on the rear lip it may work confused24.gif
GaroldShaffer
I'm not sure if I will flare the car or not. My fender lips have been rolled by a PO so I have no problem running 205 50 15. Thinking of just flairing the rears with maybe a SC flare like Gteeners car ( wavey.gif Hi Gwen)

As for tires, I would do I like I do now and have a set of rims for street driving then a set for AXing and some day track events biggrin.gif driving.gif

IMHO, Fuchs not only look right, but are, dare I say, correct. That said, I agree that those Boxster wheels look very good on a 914. Nice combination of a modern wheel that works on a '70's vintage car. Advantage is that they're relatively cheap and easy to find.

The advantage I saw with my boxster rims were 1) they were cheap, 2) they look good (on a silver car at least) and most important 3) with their offsets I could put 7X16's all around with no spacers and no fender pulling while running 205's.

Sorry that I don't have better photos, but here my Fuchs. Front are 16x8 and rear are 16x9. They are from a 944 turbo early offset.

I will agree that the 911 style Fuchs just look right to me. I'm running 6x15's with 205/50's right now with stock fenders, no rolling etc. Installing steel GT flares shortly and have a set of 7x16 and 9x16 on the way to me right now. That said, I almost went with the early boxter 7x16's like Jim, that's a beautiful car... wub.gif

It's hard (impossible?) to beat Fuch or Cookies without going to a high buck racin' wheel.
Cookies are about a pound per wheel heavier than the Fuch.
SpecialK
Well, they're not actually mounted on the car yet, but I got me a set of BBS's (16"x7" and 8") that'll be "on"! aktion035.gif

17x7 and 17x9 993's one pair are replicas i think.

those and fuchs, 8's upfront, 15mm spacer to push out. Slight rub on the inside otherwise.

Pic, 8's all the way around with 225's. can fit 245's.

Jim912928,

Are those 16s or 17s? What tires are you running? Thanks.

Talk about individual preferences....this is a great thread. I WAS considering Panasports until I got the quote today...15X7 (modular 3 piece) a mere $465 each and ~ 4 month delay. While they look great - price and delay are b.s.
