BTW, speed limit down here is 70 in most places, traffic is 80-85

PowerHaus-II shows a HB ( HB 19:31 1.63 ) gear. Charlie Davis' gear chart has an open spot where HA would be for a 901 box, so i donno if they "really" exist.

but try PowerHaus-II and see what they say. then report back...

this one should be pretty easy :-)

we know it's not a 914 ratio, therefore the answer is "some kinda 911 or 912 prior to 1972." you'll need to spend some time with ETKA, i think, to run it down - this is your project, not mine.

just pray it's not a 911R ratio...

Yup, that's bad news. Might not be available in a standard form. The H gear is easy, it's second in a 4 speed, and on the 4 speeds it's first that's fixed to the sahft.

Just took an HB out of a 905/13 and it wasn't fixed to the shaft.

I suggest you get the body work and paint done before you go changing any other mechanical stuff in your car. I paid 150 for my H gear while some freak on ebay got 500....

You have 15 inch wheels? Why not go to 16s, and go up to stock rolling diameter?

Aaron, somtihing isnt making sense with you gear choices.

A,F is a popular first second combo

ZD is a K if flipped I believe

A,F,K

is a good combo...


but going form a K to a V in an upshift will cause your RPMs to drop way to much

If you want to build a street box, you can have bigger rpm drops between gears.. or build a 5 speed box with 4 close ratio gears, and an overdrive 5th...

I dont see that in what you have posted.. though I may be missing something.

that precisely waht i would like to do.

1- stock
2- stock
3- flipped 914/4 5th
4- stock or something shorter
5 'overdrive' as in flipped HA gear

5th gear choices
Flipped HA 32 : 20 (0.625)
ot
ZD 31 : 22 (0.710)

The box you want to build is a AFKQ...ZD any stock fifth will work. taller would be better.. Ill check my box-o-gears tomorrow

You have exactly described the gear rations of the transmission that is in my /6 conversion .

If you want those ratios, find a 901-00 with the pull type clutch. It's a 4 speed, and it comes with all that and a A geared mainshaft to boot!!!
