I assume they are different. I have the 7-pin AFM in my 75 L-jet, seems that the brain would match the FI wire harness.
Are there any out there for sale? Would it be best just to buy a spare (known good) unit vs. finding one to borrow?
Even would consider "might be good" units.

I think i have a couple. have to see if they are 75 boxes. Pay $15 shipping and you can borrow it. If it works and you need it pay $50.
