Saw these the other day googling 914 plaid seats.

Autobahn Interiors makes these.

They augment the bolster sport seat like and insert a great looking plaid.

I'm sure you'll need a wheelbarrow of cash to get these done, but they do look sharp.

very cool, thanks for sharing
I'm in the market for seats. Trying to decide if I want to recover my stock seats, rebuild them with side bolsters, or buy something from classiccarseats.com

Those are nice looking rolleyes.gif

You don't need a wheelbarrow-full of cash. Are you aware that Mark @ 914 Rubber is selling recovering kits? I did mine a couple winters ago in red, had a local professional do the work, and they look fantastic.

Per seat, that adds up pretty darn quickly! Not knocking his prices, just not cheap!

Great looking seats.

Cheap and good are usually mutually exclusive.
raynekat
The reason I had highlighted these seats was the plaid obviously but additionally the nice "sport seat"-like bolstering that was done.

Don't always see this and unfortunately 914 Rubber's seat covers don't do this or allow for this.

For the budget minded, 914 Rubber's seat covers are great.
If you want something a bit more custom....be prepared to pay more.
Mikey914
We can do whatever you want, just a matter of money. I set mine up to appeal to the most customers and be as reasonable as possible. The wool tartan is not some Chinese product, and is a pattern set up in a loom. this is made here in the US, and is a durable product. Correct for the 914's of the 75-76 vintage.

I really like how these seats look. I contacted Tony G. at Autobahn Interiors: $1400 for the set of 2 seats if you provide cores. I would do this immediately if Autobahn was local. I wonder if there is someone in the Bay Area that can do this quality work?
Dave_Darling
I've used Harold's Upholstery in Palo Alto before. He re-did the seats in my CRX with fabric from spare seats I had bought, and replaced some of the foam with more durable stuff. He also re-did the seats in my wife's SC, and similar foam and reinforcement work.

My Tartan plaid seats. Love them. I am second owner and the original seats were same material. 74 1.8... Obviously had them redone. But close to what originally came in car.

We may be able to do that and deliver them to you at West Coast Rally in June. What color were you looking for?

Mark - I know this won't be part of a sale but I've thought about a matching set of door cards. When you have a minute, please give me a quote. Black vinyl on the top. Thanks!
Mikey914
I'll get back to you Monday I need to see how much I have on hand, but yes and it wouldn't be a lot of material.

Went from this hot vinyl:

I supplied the material and the local upholstery shop only charged me $150 to do both seats! I get a lot of favorable comments on them, and they are much cooler to sit on than the vinyl was.
raynekat
Way cooler (better) looking as well....

Looking at this picture again, I see an opportunity for 914rubber to do a padded bolster/GT option. Include the firm padding needed to fill the bolster area. The inserts would remain the same.
I'm in for a pair or two.

Slight hijack, anyone see a "Pasha" 928 interior inspired pattern in a 914?

Rick's Alien has pasha seats. Not sure where he got the fabric.

I would be willing to pull the trigger for a set of them.

I bought my cloth from AA for a less than $200. My local upholterer did the work for less than $300 for both seats.

I am kind of thinking this way also....

nothing else in the car is plaid, so it seems out of place to me.

The ones in the pictures and others I have seen look to be well done. and maybe there was even a stock version, just not my cup of tea.

Yes, an option in ‘75 & 76. I bought a white ‘75 with red tartan seats. They were trashed by the time I got the car but I like the look. I think the matching door panels will tie it together.

It's not hard to find just about any tartan color combination you can imagine.
Just buy the material and get your local upholsterer to make it so.

One of the reasons ours are a little more expensive is the details. Notice the plaid pattern isn't lined up on the base to the back. It actually takes more material to do this correctly.

Hi Gulf91474,
That plaid would look great in my white 914-6 conversion.
Can you share where you purchased the plaid in those colors? Did you already purchase the seats like that?
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bill.

914 rubber made me some door panels to match the seats. I’m very happy with them. I might have to rethink using armrests so I don’t cover up so much of the tartan.
oakdalecurtis
I bought the tartan cloth from AA, paid my local upholsterer a few hundred dollars to to the cloth portions only. I added a on inch block lift under the front of the driver's seat to help support my long legs better.

And for the record we now have the houndstooth pattern with white red yellow orange and blue. The orange and blue were doing upsets now we just got the material in.
