I picked this pair of used rear shocks up and I thought I would show them to the world. They were made Sept 1973. Porsche part # 914 333 051 31 . They have an odd symbol on them like a leaf with the words DE Carbon and Bilstein on them. They say MADE IN GERMANY and have a VDM stamp on the side. There is a set of manufacturing numbers on the side.

Some 43+ years later they are still GOOD. They seemed to be frozen up extended all the way out. A little WD 40 and 10 strokes they were good as new. I was amazed.

The spring base and top uses stock hardware. The bottom uses a snap ring and catch plate not used on the Boges. The spring base plate sets very low compared to the plate on the Boges. It measures 4" from the snap ring to the top of the mounting bracket. You should be able to use that measurement to set up the new version of these shocks.

De Carbon was the design principal of the dual chamber shock.
Maybe there was a patent agreement back then.
Very cool OE optional parts.
