Just stopped by the shop(Bob Woodman tires etc) to get Front tires rebalanced and got visiting with one of the guys about my oil them gauge being 40 degrees off- I have a nitrous brand gauge but I have a VDO sender - so they gave me this off an old 911- now I need to figure out what goes where-
My car is 75 2.0 with appearance group-
Here is a picture of the back of the VDO gauge

I believe a hot goes to the + terminal; the sender (green wire) goes to the s terminal and the other one with the symbol is the ground terminal.

Ok so I have this wired , well the gauge is wired - + to the red-white stripe&black connector, ground to the brown and Sender to tech green wire-
Next to wire the light- the light bulb I'm guessing one spade get a wire from the switched power(black w/red stripe )? And does the other spade get ground?

Where did all that blue wire come from? With the incandescent lamp, one spade terminal gets a solid brown wire. The other spade terminal gets a black wire with blue stripe. Polarity doesn't matter with this light.

Blue is what I had in the bag- I only have one VDO gauge and no center harness , I have an aftermarket volt meter and a A/F meter that are both connected to center tunnel already - I connected the VDO oil temp gauge as you see, ground to brown, sender to sender wire and hot to the red that comes in with ignition-

So polarity doesn't matter so one spade goes to ground and the other to the black w/ blue stripe - gotcha - will look for that in the center tunnel , but I idiot see that earlier- will look again after supper

Wired!

Not very bright so maybe a LED bulb would work I have some Super bright LED bulbs somewhere-
Turns out the switched power(via light switch) in tunnel is grey-
Not sure but I don't see a incoming black-with-blue-stripe wire there .

I'll have to work on that mps some more
agree.gif well, not exactly running-

Looking for a matching VDO volt meter if anyone has one for sale-

I might clean up the wiring later,i can do a better job on this. Some of that is a mess due to the aftermarket gauges I was using that came with console I got from James at 914AP a few years back, very flimsy small wires that are hard to put into connector, that I will change later., but I did find a couple threads about wiring the center console and a couple of diagrams pop up on Google that are helpful, - now if you all want a one piece already done harness, 914rubber now makes them - I may buy this but I will wait until I have a new VDO Volt meter and Clock to put in here, then I will make a new gauge face plate to fit 4 including the A/F meter and my seat heater switches. I n the mean time I have it working, I was able to test and figure our which is hot with ignition(Red), which is hot with the light switch(grey).

Regarding the Oil temp and the match between the sender(VDO) and the Gauge seems very close- my Temp on the way to work today after a 40 minute drive was right at 185, this was 5 degrees below my dipstick thermo- so a lot better than the old one which was off(high) by 40 degrees!!! of course its a bit cooler now, 65 this morning, but should be 80 this afternoon on way home. time will tell if I can depend on the accuracy of the gauge rather than having to dive into the engine compartment to see what temp really is!!
