Saw a post asking about reproducing the release handle the the "GT" cars used on the engine lid. They were used on the early VW Thing:

This looks cool. I would be interested in more information about how this configuration is set-up.

It's not too bad. Here's a step by step:

I have this mod on my car, I used the "T" handle. I used a 911 cable that came with some parts I bought.

Is the car shown Eric's?

This is mine, and if you look closely, you will see there is no engine in this car......yet.

We want cool, not discrete!! Probably just grabbed whatever pull handle was around, just happened to be a VW part.

The car that's shown in the OP is the 1970 914/6 GT that's currently for sale in this thread.

This is Eric's car.....you can see it has the same handle.

Erics car has thigh gap also. The really sexy 914's all have it.

I like the handle and would even consider using it inside, as my left hand has some issues, and that would make it easier to pull while, I put my right onto the lid to keep it from tapping the trim.

I have considered moving it to the GT solution, to many choices. Oh crap, I just remembered I got one of the push button releases, that are flush mounted.

Oh well I have one ordered, might use it on the -6 build.
