I'm sure most of you have seen this on ebay. The ONLY reason I'm even considering it is because it's less than an hour from my home. I'm thinking take what I need, part the rest of it out on e-bay till it's nothing but a shell with 4 wheels.

I'm going to try to actually go view the car this week, and I'll make him an offer to just sell it to me outright.

Whats it worth???

Part Pricer
I value a parts car based on what can be sold easily. Let's break this one down.

Alloy Wheels: Mmm...no sorry.
Good Seats: Ahh...nope.
Engine: "been sitting for several years, & I have not tried to start it since I bought it, so I do not know anything about it". Let's see how much that adds...sorry still zero.
Tail Light Lenses: Well, this car has them but we can't tell what shape they are in. Let's throw caution to the wind and assign a $50 value to them.
Chrome Bumpers: Again, it has them but we don't know the condition. Add $200.
Engine Grill Letters: Assume good shape metal letters, $20.
Carbs: The listing says the car has carbs. Depending on what kind they are and their condition add zero to $200 dollars.
Trans: Unknown condition $50
Luggage Rack: Priceless

So, based on what I see, you could possibly get a minimum of $320 for what you could sell off. However, you would then be left with a rusting heap in your driveway. How much would it cost to get rid of that?

due to the down time and storage, my guess is the brakes will be locked up or atleast flat tires and you will have to drag it. the one door pannel doesn't appear to be cut for speakers, $50 for a nice set. what do you need? that's the bottom line for making an offer.

Considering the time/effort to strip that car and get rid of the carcass, the most I would do is haul that car away for free. I see hardly anything on that car of value.

Eh...I was thinking a bit more in depth than that. Steering wheel, gauges, door handles, headlight motors, bumpers, grills, the targa top, the chrome trim pieces, the front hood (looks ok), the glass, etc

Although the car is pretty much a flaming turd.... I could literally STRIP the thing in 1 day, stack the parts in my garage, and then pull the thing to the nearest junkyard, and say "here ya go.. all yours"

I'm thinking maybe offer him $300????

If I make $500 or $600, I'll be happy.

Your thoughts???
vortrex
what parts do you see that are nice on it and worth money for resale?
ninefourteener
Again... this will all require a visual inspection....., but pretty much anything BUT the body. I've seen so much crap sell on e-bay.

We'll see. I'll go take a look at it this week and make a determination on what it's worth.

I'll make sure I post pictures of my new found prize if I buy it

Ordinarily I'd say "pass" very quickly, but I've seen how you can work wonders on wheels so I guess this would be just one more challenge for you! I guess if you could get it for 300, and that would be TOP dollar, and had the time to wait for pieces to sell you'd be ok. Good luck.

Oh yea... the fuchs are awesome...... They still require a little bit of work, but they really bring out the car a LOT... thanks.

As for this one... whats it going to hurt right? He's right up the road, I might make a few bucks. I might get a couple things I need, and what have I got to lose right?

Thanks again!

I gave up... that car is up to around $500 now.... not worth it... no way.

The owner never responded back to me about viewing the car anyway. Maybe he doesn't want me to see it... Hmm
rhodyguy
email him and thank him for not responding he saved you some time, gas, and frustration.

Wow........... TEN DAYS LATER, and after the acuction has already closed with a winning bid of $510.00............ I get a response e-mail back:

Yea, sure, you can come look at the car, no problem... anytime.

Um...... how do I write an effective and appropriate response???

EAT MY ASS!!!!

Eh... Too late.

I already sent him something like "I wrote you 2 weeks ago. I thought it sold for $510?? Thats more than I was willing to pay anyway"

So I wonder if the buyer screwed him over...... or if he screwed the buyer over??

Hmm

lots of screwing going on.... bootyshake.gif
