Well, I kinda figured this was going to happen. I'll post some pics of the carnage later today or tomorrow. I pulled the old exhaust from the car. In doing so, four of the studs came right off while trying to remove the nuts. The remaining nuts came off the other studs, but that's because the studs were so rusted that there really wasn't any thread holding them on. So I have the HE's off, and had some rusty exhaust studs that were severely lacking in threads staring me in the face

But those four exhaust studs are tight on the head. I bought a stud removal tool from a FLAPS. Locked onto the studs well. I PB Blaster'ed the studs and then just before using the stud removal tool tried to heat the studs up with a torch. No go. Broke two of the studs. Both of the broken studs still have about an 1.5" of stud showing. I'm afraid to do anything to the remaining ones still in the head. I've searched World on what to do. Most say to drill them out but I'm kinda scared to do that and think I might have other options since there is still stud sticking out of the head. Another camp says to double nut them. Not sure I can do that on the remaining studs that aren't broken because the studs are rusted so badly that there is little thread left on them. I could possible weld a nut on them if I had a welder (I don't).

Thought I'd take it to Zim's, a local foreign car specialist shop here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. I called them but they said they don't work on 914's anymore.

Any ideas on how to get them removed without tearing up the heads? Or any of you Dallas area guys know of a shop that could handle this work?
