I just picked up this '74 914 this week, and instead of installing a modern radio, I'd like to find a radio of the correct vintage. Anyone got one?

I think I'm looking fir something like this:

That particular unit is hard to find. It was a 1 year only model (it's actually a 75 model). I was able to find one on eBay after months of looking. Here is the specs:

Frankfurt Stereo
US Kit (455)
7635 421 012

The 5 in 7635 indicates the model year.

If someone here doesn't have one, I'd keep trolling eBay.

There is one on eBay now but it's $895

Just an FYI. If the 108 in on the left, it's a 69-70 model. If the 108 is on the right, it's a later model.

Hope this helps.

I may have what you need, I will take a look today.

Thanks....while I would like something that is correct...this isn't a show car, and $895 is super far from what I'd want to pay. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.....
I appreciate the feedback.

How about a NOS Sapphire AM FM Stereo Radio? Dealer installed item with NOS 914 face plate. Includes used speaker harness to keep it stock. Has a broken fuse link. $5 repair. Case is copper colored not rusted. $399 shipped.
My 914
does anyone make a reproduction of an older radio like what you're showing that would fit?

Take a look at crutchfield.com. Retro look radio for 914s.

Looked at RetroSound? They specialize in old-looking-but-modern-tech radios. They even have USB connections and Bluetooth interfaces.

Example:

They make "screen protectors" that stick on the display and mimic the dial.

I'm looking at getting one for my early '70s 911 to replace the '80s era JVC cassette deck a previous owner thought was necessary.

Thanks for the tips.

I have this one for sale over on the bird, I can provide a 914 basket weave face plate if you are interested.
