A question for the experts:
I have a set of 5 wheels (yellow painted centers), which I'm pretty sure are from an LE. The wheels are not in great shape and need refinishing. My intention is to paint them black. I'm doing a reverse-bumblebee (yellow car, black accents). Mine is NOT an LE.
Here's the question: are the LE wheels in any way so special, such that painting them would be inadvisable, sacrilegious, or otherwise frowned upon?
Is there a way to confirm they are LE wheels? Does it even matter?
Thanks.

They are just standard 4 lug Mahles, just with the special painted centers when supplied with the LE cars.

And to add. Along with the centers being painted body color on the LE models, the outer rim (about 12mm of it) was painted silver. I've seen several restored LE wheels where this wasn't done.

Before you refinish your wheels, check for trueness, Mahles bend easily.
