In the course of sorting out the axles and installing Eric's Type 1 CV's I have found that I have two different axles. Both are within a mm of being 515 long, but one has 25 splines and the other 33.

The original CV's and the type 1's are three quarters of an hour away at the machinist getting the flanges fixed to take the type 1's so I cant check which one is correct.

So what's the scoop with this kids?

Thanks. So it looks like the 33 spline is correct for the type 1 CV. Is the other axle off a six perhaps?

Both the 914-6 and early 911 axles have 25 splines, but the 914-6 is the length you measured, the 911 is about 3/4" shorter.
