Full Version: "Simply Porsche" show at Beaulieu (UK)

Yesterday one of the UK's Porsche clubs - TIPEC - held their annual big meet in the UK countryside.
Specifically this was at the National Motor Museum, at Beaulieu, in the middle of our beautiful New Forest.

There were over 600 Porsche in attendance, representing almost every model - from the earliest 356s to the very latest 991.

You US guys like to bitch about us "stealing" the 914s back and importing them home to Europe.
So I thought the least I could do is show you some of those cars here on a sunny day in the UK...

They own three 914s: this one, one nearing conversion to a viper green GT rep, and an adriatic blue 914-6 being restored stateside...

Owned by David Stowers.

I love this car: it is used all year round, come rain or shine. Just the way it should be.

With the quality of some of the cars owned by my fellow UK 914 owners, you can understand I was pretty nervous about my first outing with my own car.
(It completed its conversion to a GT rep just last week, and I'll post a separate thread here soon to share the project)

Stood on the left is Kevin, who - I think - has approved me and my car's application to join the UK crew!

Great pics.

Great cars and glad to see others getting together to share their passion.

Great GT replica! Very nice indeed!

Many of us have seen that Can Am LE in numerous ads with different sellers or agents over the last year or two. You can tell that one from a few anomalys and no jacking points on the rockers. It recently was on eBay from it's new UK location.

Sadly - for me anyway - at least 75% of the Porsche there were 1990s or later.

Water-cooled don't float my boat quite the way the early models do, so my camera was pointed at the older stuff.

Here follow some examples...

James,
Thanks for posting the pictures!
I do not share the opinion that you are stealing all our 914s, it just would not be fair to deny our European 914 brothers the pleasure of owning one of these fine machines.

Kevin Clarke's 914-6.

Let him know he has the wrong rear bumper blade... biggrin.gif

(That's from a late-71 through 73 car.)

I guess this young hoodlum was taking a short cut home through the event, after doing some shopping.
Decided to relieve himself in the back of one these "old bangers", while he thought no one was looking...

And on that note, we decided it was time to get in the car and head back to London...

Isn't that "Carrera 3.0"? I believe that was a Europe-only model that was basically a 911SC before they offered the SC. It had the 3-liter motor based on the aluminum turbo crankcase, and might have had SC flares. It was offered in the 76-77 model years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_911#C...E2.80.931977.29

....Unless you mean it was a standard 76 911 masquerading as a Carrera 3.0?
