I always thought the "typical" aftermarket mounting options using the rubber mounts to the trunk floor had the potential to restrict air flow through the cooler.

I will have to give McMark credit for this as I saw him post about the rubber mounts for the fuel pump. My fuel pump mounts were pretty stiff so I was going add new ones and followed McMarks link to McMaster Carr.

And I found these.

Using these to extend the existing mounts will add a bit more space for air flow and a larger air gap to keep heat out of the trunk.

Have not installed yet but at about $3 each not very expensive.

The cooler on my '73 is in the same place- that is a good idea! I love McMaster Carr- always find a bunch of stuff I think I need...

If the fan is drawing air downwards I think is mod is a "must do",good thinking .
