I got a pair of these in a batch of misc. 914 parts. Or rather, we think these springs are for 914. Very blue, 1/2" wire, 14" free length, about 7 coils (allowing for the flattened ends), correct diameter for 914 at 4.25" (110mm?). Seems like they'd be rather stiff. Anyone recognize them? Need to figure out what they are before I offer them for sale.

Those are similar color, but lots more coils and thinner wire.

Look like Weltmeister 140# springs... Mine had the number 140 on the outside of the spring coil.

I looked again at both springs carefully, Rob. No marking at all. Drat! The Weltmeister 100 lb. I put on the rear of the car are black and well marked, both brand and rate.

The 100 lb. springs are 11mm wire, these blue are a full 1/2" (12.7mm). so probably at least 140 lb., perhaps more.

Would be nice to know for sure though.

A 140 lb spring will compress 1" when 140 lbs is applied.

They can be tested

I have a similar set, mine are black with a gray stripe.
14 1/8" long and 7/16" wire.

You can calculate the spring rate pretty easilly. you need the free length, , number of sprung coils, wire diameter, coil diameter, and end style. You can guess on material since all of the steels are pretty close.

Look like the 200lb springs RH was selling back in my day.

OK, that sounds likely. The guy I got these from has had them a long time, and had no info on them from the guy he got them from. I've used a few online calculators and all have come up a bit over 200 lb/in.

As a 914 noob, who is RH?

I really don't know, but RH might be Renegade Hybrids who do V-8 conversions and parts. Just a guess.
