Who used to own this 914-6 in California before it went to Sweden and it was built in 18 days to prep for snow rally? Amazing car!

I remember this car on Ebay within the last year. Had a built 2.7 in it but didn't make the reserve. I think i may have saved the info on it at the time. I will have to look. Wish this had subtitles.

Yeah, subtitles would be nice.
I think they're speaking Portugese. Maybe for a Brazilian audience.
Tuthill Porsche is a British tuner.
Rockingham is probably in the US ( an oval track in Britain named Rockingham ?
with a spriklered skidpad ?)
Hollywood production values......drama more important than content.
The video brought my laptop to a screeetching halt twice.
Too much BS not enough content.
Love to see more " before, real facts about mods, and after"
Beautiful welds on the roll cage.
Rant over

Do you have the VIN ? The car may be in the VIN database...

I found the info from this car on Ebay. I saved this to see if the car would pop up again somewhere. I did not record the date of the auction but I believe it was last year and the reserve was not met, nor the 25k starting bid if I remember right. Must have made a deal with these guys outside of Ebay.

VIN 9140430350
"Porsche 914-6, genuine original six, the story of this car is that it started life as an Irish Green, San Jose, One Owner car and still retains its proper CA Blue Plate.

In 1985 a local Porsche garage was commissioned by a surgeon to build a fast track car, so they sourced this local car from its lady owner, it was in superb rust free, accident free condition. They removed the motor and built what was at the time pretty much a state of the art 2.7 motor based on a 1975 911S case, it was fitted with European pistons and barrels, the internal components were all lightened and matched, they also bumped up the compression and fitted Weber Carburetors.
To the body they flared the original fenders by cutting a line along the top and inserting a triangular piece of metal front to back enabling the boxed flare (you can see the fillet from underneath) The front fenders received the same treatment although it was fashionable in those days to remove the turn signal housing and flatten the fender, this they did. Inside the car received a roll hoop behind the driver, a hoop under the dashboard and tubing radiating forward from the front bar and back from the rear bar through to the adjacent compartments. At the rear the metal tubing goes through factory holes in the trunk, the front is done with little effect to the surrounding areas so could be very easily removed. The work is done very professionally and without damage to the surrounding metal.
The nose received an oil cooler behind the bumper and several round holes were cut to the front trunk floor for the air to escape. Also from the front panel run some very nice metal tubes which direct air to the front brakes which are larger aftermarket aluminum calipers, the rears are the original 914/6 items. The rear of the monocoque has been strengthened as per normal with the panels on either side of the inner wheel wells and again this is done very professionally
The battery has been relocated to the rear trunk in the middle and the center of the compartment, the original battery tray was removed from the inner engine compartment as the roll bar tube would interfere with the batteries location.
The transmission is a later side shifter, I am told that it has a set of close ratio gears in it

The story goes that the car was finished and taken to the track for the new owner to drive, he took it out in the first session and scared himself to death, as soon as he came in he apparently never drove it again, it was then decided that it should be converted for the road, put into primer and left, it was then simply parked in the owners garage where it sat from 1989 until the end of last year, the last registration tags on the blue plate are from 1989.

Motor & Transmission
The motor is based on a 2.7 S motor from 1975, it has been fitted with European Pistons and Barrels and the compression was raised, it has correct 914-6 manifolds and exhaust, carburetors are correct Webers. When we found the 914-6 it had not been run since 1989, I am told that the motor hasn't even covered 100 miles since the rebuild. To wake it up fresh oil, filter and a new fuel pump were fitted, the carbs, brand new back then were quite plugged up with old fuel which had turned pretty nasty over the years, we have been cleaned them out and given and fitted new gaskets, motor starts and runs incredibly well, carbs pop and bang and would probably benefit from a proper rebuild, the motor makes no smoke at all. The transmission is a side shifter.

Shell
A super solid shell with a perfect "Hell Hole" the well known danger area below the battery tray-always a place of concern on 914 models. The floors are original and excellent with the exception of one piece of rust on the lower part of the floor which is about 2" x 4" its simply where the water has sat in the lowest point, the rockers, bulkheads, front pan, inner fenders are all rock solid and excellent with absolutely no sign of accident damage. The inner fenders front and rear are solid and show no accident damage, the body number is still visible on rear of the trunk floor, again showing that the car has suffered no damage to the back. The doors are without bubbles or any rust, all suspension points are good.

Wheels
The wheels are genuine Fuchs 7" and 9" X 15" and in excellent shape, only one front wheel has any curb rash and that's just around the edge
Suspension
The suspension is all Bilstein, yellow shocks at the rear with front anti sway bar, its very solid and obviously set up for performance or track

This car would be perfect to make a fantastic GT replica, I will supply some original front fenders cut from a parts car to convert the front of the car back to stock, rear quarters just need to have the triangular fillet cut out and two sides welded back together, my idea was to fit GT steel flares and make it into a canyon rocket

Included in the sale are a pretty comprehensive set of brand new replacement rubber seal for the car, they are all new in the bags, mostly Porsche OE, also a spare roof which is painted red and smooth plus various other parts that came with the car
