The red warning light came on on the dash and the voltage meter went to zero while driving. I checked the battery terminals while the engine was running and got just over 14 volts. When I turned off the engine, the battery read about 12 volts which to seems to indicate it is charging. The belt is on the alternator and the regulator is a solid state type. What should I do next?

Thanks,
Garry

Is that your real email?
If so you should change your user name to just garrysharp or you could get spammed.

PM Sir Andy if you need help with this.

Check fuse S9. It powers the voltmeter and the GEN light.

Although according to the schematic for a 1975 914, the fuel gauge and tach should also be off.

The fuse was it. I don't know why it blew though.
