Wow, you could make a batch of those spare tire mounts and sell all of them in a couple hours!!!

I agree and would buy two of them right now..

Wish I had the time. sad.gif

Send me your patterns and I will make a bunch..
[/quote]

Well...let me see what I can do first. I can talk to a couple of places that I used to work with.

Welded in and sealed.

If that doesn't work out, I have a plasma table and brake and could make them, too...

Wow--that looks beautiful. beerchug.gif

Yep, this baby''s getting too pretty to even finish and paint. Just clear coat everything and leave as is. ... tongue.gif

Seriously looking good. Nice job.

Cut me a break.... slap.gif for the previous 5 years and 1 month my Six was essentially disassembled and scattered to the 4 corners of a shop across the country where I was only able to see it once in person. The work that was done, well you have all seen a little glimpse of that, so enough said.

Now Kent is working on it and we all can see the incredible results. It's like I just got the car. I am very excited (obviously) with the work and progress. piratenanner.gif

Love seeing the updates. I have been using the pictures of repairs as a basis for my fab class lesson plans at school.

I think your students need some hands on experience. Let me know where to drop off my car.
914350
Thanks guys for all the great comments. I can't wait till the car is done and Mike gets to enjoy it.
Mike, all is going well and I'm digging into the trunk at this point. The arms I ordered for my spot welder came in and the fenders will be going on soon. biggrin.gif
Cairo94507
Terrific. Looking forward to seeing how those long arms weld. biggrin.gif

That spare tire hold down bracket is just what the doctor ordered.

Great job as usual, Kent!!!!

You know you have turned a serious corner (for the better) when there are pictures of well done accessories to the core build in the pictures.

Exciting progress.

Wow, you could make a batch of those spare tire mounts and sell all of them in a couple hours!!! Are the screws just to hold it before it's welded in?

I'm trying to run a rear cooler on mine, but if I need to go front...that spare mount and a front cooler shroud would be awesome!!!

Yeah, the screws are the to hold it in place for welding.

I was surprised to see exactly the same screws I use. Kinda basking in reflected glory.

Nice mount. Mine is all honeycomb and not so good..

Do you know how jealous I am? Tried so hard to get the sealer right, with Wurth discontinuing things right and left. Makes it look easy.

The suspense is killin' me. My Six has really undergone a major evolution in the last 6 months. I believe it is now one of the straightest, cleanest tubs around - and getting better every day. I can only imagine what it will look like once it has color on it. beerchug.gif

What is the external finish I'm seeing in a lot of these pics? Is it primer and block sanded?

Hi Kent,

Absolutely gorgeous car and work. I noticed there are no holes in the rear trunk for the early bolt on heat shield. Does this car have the later heat shield?

Hi Greg, this car has the bolt in heat shield but the rear trunk floor was replaced so I will be drilling the holes once I get the car back on the rotisserie. I have a patern I made from another car that will help me get the holes in the correct locations.

...This one is in surprisingly great condition.
Cairo94507
That may be the first and only time I have heard those words associated with my Six. av-943.gif

Michael,
Not just your car. Kent hasn’t been able to mutter those words with the cars that preceded yours. We’ll see if he can repeat that statement when he tears into his own 6... biggrin.gif
Cairo94507
Dave-
Yeah, my car was marginally better, maybe, than Kent's when it arrived. Hope to see you this weekend. beerchug.gif

I think one of my valve stem caps is in great condition...so I got that going for me.
Cairo94507
That's a definite start. beerchug.gif
