Looking for a volunteer. Mine doesnt register although it does move to the beginning of the measurement. Checked with a multi meter and it showed 12 at the leads.

Multi-meters are a little more sensitive to voltage. Have you also tried testing the gauge with a couple of test leads directly to the battery posts?

Not yet but i did test with a newer vdo voltmeter out of the beetle and it read the same as the multi
