If it has the original engine, around 100K doesn't seem totally crazy...

Did Canadian 914's have ROW badging and lights??? I figured they were like USA cars except for the speedometer- maybe not?

Maybe this will make it on one of their TV shows...

Full nut and bolt restoration

I'm pretty sure that in 1970, the Canadian cars were essentially the same as US cars, including the speedometer.

To my eyes, all of the obvious details are not US market - lights, rear fog light, no side markers, metric speedo. Given the expense of a resto like this, it would be crazy to not do it 100% as factory. So I suspect this was not originally delivered in North America.

Nice example. I'd be reluctant to drive it much, but I'd want to drive it all the time.

Side marker lights should be present for a US car. Nevertheless, a beautiful restoration if the mechanicals are as nice as the body!

Any duties or taxes to bring it south could be staggering. With a real, legit bill of sale for WA one would be pushing $120k. Not to include covered transport or border fees. Once one had the car, what would you do with it? Sit in it and dust it off? huh.gif

Awesome restoration.
Appears to have 1971 interior vinyl. Shiny 'elephant hyde'

How much is duty and taxes on a car brought down from Canada and is it a hassle?

I bought a car (70 Challenger Conv.) from a guy from Canada and in part trade I sold him a ski boat. It was a huge hassle getting that boat up to Canada for him. He towed it from LA up there. I got a number of calls from the Customs people in Canada wanting proof of the sale.

Is it Jim's (banananose)? I think Jim's is better than this car!

I bought a car in Canada recently. I found out if it's older than 25 years (which this is) you just pay duty on it. I think it's 3%??? I forget but for what I spent, it wasn't much.

Now, as an FYI, if the car is younger than 25 years, you need a letter from the manufacturer that it complies with DOT specs. Most Canadian cars do as they're a NA model. Mine had KM speedo but the DOT deemed that was a minor labeling issue so off I went.

Nate, How much did the state clip you for the new title?

I'd love to hear more. It has recently taken me 3 visits to a DOL office (chose a different office on the third one) and additional after sale paperwork from the seller just to import a 43 year old 914 across the OR/WA border. Of course, I live in an RTA/ST3 zone.

With all the nice paint everywhere else, you'd think they could have repainted the air filter housing confused24.gif

The air filter is bare plastic.
Paint would be wrong.
No vapor tank on gas tank ?

Without seeing the COA, it could be possible that this 914 was not originally a canadian car, hence the "euro" lights, lack of side markers, rear badging etc.I prefer my 914s with a bit more patina though...

The 914-6s were not officially sold in Canada so technically, there is no Canadian spec 914-6. The 914-4s were not sold in Canada until 1972.
