Broker #3: Camp914 2005-2007
Owner #4 Tim Hench 2007-2010
Owner #5 Me 2010 – current

Details (most work/upgrades performed during my ownership):

• Stainless steel brake lines

Non matching #'s. Car started out life as 1.8 L. Was replaced with 2.0 L in 2002.

Cool. Do you know if it was Jim who changed out the engine. That's what I was told by Camp however was never able to confirm. Always wanted to get my hands on the original 1.8L.
JeffBowlsby
If that's Jim Chambers former Phoenix Red, its spectacular. I seriously doubt Jim changed the engine, but you can find him over on the 928 Rennlist site to ask him personally.

A price is essential (and required). GLWTS. Nice looking car.

Agree, I don't thin Jim would have done the swap, but IIRC it had 916 bumpers when Jim had it.

It really is spectacular and well sorted. I'll try to connect with Jim. Would love to get more of the back story. All I have is what Camp shared. Thank you

Car looks awesome. I hope you get your price! These things cost too much for us to sell them for less, but the competition is tough! By that I mean, take a test ride in a new Miata, known as the MX6 here in Europe. For something like $5,000 less or more than that people can get a 160 ps 200 nm of torque in a BRAND NEW car that kicks the crap out of our 914s. Or a nice Boxter for that matter! Naturally I'm mixing apples with oranges here, but it's the reality of the marketplace. Supply and demand determine price. Demand is low for our cars, indeed, VERY, VERY LOW. BUT! Supply is even lower! And of cars in the shape of this one, far lower still, obviously. My black 914 has cost me more than your asking price and isn't in this kind of shape. dry.gif My son is quasi 'nauseated' barf.gif by how much I've spent to get so little car! lol-2.gif But alas! When I drive my black & chrome 914 with bursch exhaust through downtown Munich my car clearly turns more heads than, literally, aktion035.gif any other Porsche in this great down at the foot of the Alps. first.gif

So be proud! Your car rocks and I hope someone takes it for your price ASAP. That would be good for all of us. beerchug.gif

GLWTS.

I stand corrected. I actually read the posting twice and never saw the price....old age sets in.

You say bumpers here with an 's' but there's only one photo. dry.gif I have a 916 clone and happen to be fond of how these cars look from the rear as well as the front. biggrin.gif

On mine I had both front/rear however without the flares they didn't work for me so went back to orig.

Connected with 2nd owner Jim Chambers. Thanks for the lead. Great guy who was able to offer more detail on the wonderful history of the car affectionately known as "Tennessee 914"
Porsche Rescue
Enjoyed re-living my time with that car and sending what I have to Bill.
He said it was listed here so I took a look. Really took me back, and almost drew a tear, to see comments from Ferg (Mike Ferguson) and Jeff Bowlsby. Remembering you two makes me want to buy another 914 and join the "World" again. Great times with great people.Click to view attachment

This is one clean ass car. Only issue is it did not come with a 2.0 but it looks brand new and that makes it a super deal.

Question!

In the last photo of the trunk, what is that little tube sticking out of the engine compartment between the jack and the top,of the strut tower? confused24.gif
Cairo94507
Looks like a master power on/off switch to me. Just a guess.

Not sure what "tube" you're talking about. It does have battery shut off switch. Is that what you're referring to? It is an L shaped metal handle/switch. Actually quite handy as I generally shut in off position in between use so not to drain on battery.

TGIF bump
Oregonian
Beautiful car! I see that it used to live in Bend, Oregon with a previous owner. I would love to bring it back to town, but that would kick my 911 out of the garage. I've had a soft spot for the 914 since high school in the mid 70's.
Porsche Rescue
Oregonian, it never lived in Bend. I owned it 2002 to 2005 in Portland. Bought it from the original owner in Tennessee. Shipped it to Oregon. Now I live in Bend. You could introduce it to Bend in 2017.
william1764
Car is off the market. Thanks for the interest.

Saw Car was listed yesterday on BAT auction site and it only received $16,250 tops in interest. Reserve was not met, now we see his TOO HIGH asking price here on 914world... cheer.gif

You signed up just to say that? What a troll.

His asking price was not to high, auction did not work out, that is all.

I was the person who placed that bid and was very disappointed to learn that I was the highest bidder BUT that the reserve was not met. In fact, I expected at least more last minute bidders and was willing to bid to 18k. I think that's a more than fair price for a non-original 2.0 but in the end it doesn't matter what I think, it's the seller to decide to let the car go or keep it for a while.

There is a really super nice black 1974 2.0 on San Fransisco Craigslist listed for $19.5K...Much nicer than this one, in my opinion.. biggrin.gif Go take a look see...

I took a look at the SF CL car you mentioned and I do not see it as "much nicer". I understand it's your "opinion" but I disagree. I'd much prefer the one in this ad. I was very surprised it didn't go higher on BAT auction.

She'll be staying with me for the foreseeable future. Uncomfortable with the idea of a six conversion (I want a six bad) on this car but maybe I'll reconsider. Frankly, I had serious regrets once the auction started as I was certain the reserve would have been met. I'm more relieved than disappointed it didn't;-)

Thanks for the comments Joe/Bobby.

nditiz1 - have we met? Don't recognize the screen name. I lived in Mt. Airy for 12 years and now an exit down in Glenwood.

And I placed the bid before yours. I was out the door with my daughter to meet a friend when I saw your bid on my phone, and then the auction ended. Auctions are weird I guess.

I'm still interested in the car. Mixed feelings about the 2.0l but I never drove one with dual Webers.

Some people wouldn't know a good car if it ran over them. Glad you're going to hang on.

Good luck.
