Looking for a decent one to use while I rebuild mine.
Pics and price to bk911 at hotmail.com please.
Thanks!

Sort of a rare bird, Brian. Have you checked on the 912BBS.org and Pelican boards as well?

Yup. Posted a WTB everywhere I could think of.
Oops, forgot the Samba!

Will a 4 speed 901 from an early 912 work? I have a friend with one.
How long to do think it will take to rebuild the trans. Seems like a lot of work to swap transmissions twice.

A 901 should bolt up, but not sure if it will work.
The rebuild won't take long if I can't find a replacement tranny.
But could take years if I find something else to swap in. smile.gif

912E has a 915 transmission. I think I saw one on theSamba a while back. Try posting over there. Guy had engine and trans for sale cheap.

I have one that I picked up over 10 years ago (923/02) to mate with a Raby big 4, utilizing a Renegade cable shifter. But I think I'll put together a side shifter instead because I won't have to modify the Tangerine Evo II muffler, just bolt up... Initially, the 923/02 was for the big 4, and the 915/44 was for Wevo 6 cylinder conversion
The 923/02 utilizes a different clutch release fork, clutch release bearing, and clutch guide tube to name a few differences from a 915/44 (1976 911s 5 speed).
What is the going rate for a 923/02 and a 915/44? I have one of each.

Zig-n-zag,
Thanks for the offer, but shipping from Hawaii will probably be cost prohibitive.
Unless it will fit in a flat rate box. biggrin.gif
Going rate? I've bought and sold core 901s and 915s for $500 - $1000.
I've been offered 923s @ >$1500 for a rusty core to $4k for a fresh rebuild.
Mine just needs 2nd and 3rd gear syncros so I will probably just rebuild mine.

Thanks for the going rate BK911. Yeah, shipping a trans from here to the mainland is throwing away money in my eyes as well. Once you rebuild yours, you'll have many happy miles to enjoy. So, no problem. Aloha, and good luck.
