Does anyone have an opinion....on what would be causing a fuel injector to be leaking
intermittently? Is that symptomatic of a complete failure about to happen? I have had
them start leaking, and need to be replaced, but never a start and stop. I noticed it dripping
the last time I came back from a ride around town, and started it up today, to
verify if that is was #3 or #4, and it is not leaking now. Even after bringing the engine
up to temp., nothing? Head scratcher. Thought I would ask the question before I start
swapping things out.

It is on a 1.7lt car, and the fuel lines are in good shape.

Send it in for cleaning/pressure testing. If it leaks, there is often no charge other than your shipping cost.

Yes I have had one do that. The pintle can be sticking or the plastic body to the metal part when they heat up. They usually leak there.

Who do you recommend for sending in Injectors for Cleaning/Testing?

I used Witchhunter....they are on the net...been a while but if they don't pass you don't pay.

Mr injector
About $17 an injector + ship. He only charges for the ones that work after cleaning. Flow chart before and after. They come back in a couple days with new seals and hose and look like new. I use a small usps priority box. He’s done at least 100-150 injectors for me.

I had one like that, that leaked intermittently and sent it off to Mr injector. Bad unit and needed to be replaced. 3 others serviced and cleaned up really good.

Got a brand new bosch injector and installed, then a bunch of backfiring. Found out it was the new injector and sent that baby off to mr injector with some CIS injectors I needed to be serviced.

WOW, 45% loss in that brand new injector. Not sure if it was shit in the fuel system or a bad injector. Anyways they fixed it up as good as new. Got a nice chart of before and after, quick service and 3 jolly ranchers and a thanks for being a repeat customer. Its nice when they think enough to remember you.

My advice, if you can get a used injector at a good price, send it off to mr injector, with the others. After 40 years, the QC isn't there anymore for the brand new stuff.
