Hi All,

I am interested in tyre combinations for 15x 7 and 8" fuchs for my 914 GT Build as have just finished restoring the rims and am about to weld on the steel Auto Atlanta flares.

I am aiming to achieve the attached vision:

Does anyone know what the factory rubber dimensions were? I have tried searching the Forum to no avail!

What have members got on their 15x 7 and 8" rims? Any photos uploaed would be much appreciated!! beerchug.gif

Cheers

factory dimensions? Well, back then it was likely a 185/70 front, 215/60 rear since real low profile tires as we know them didn't exist yet. That said 205-225 fit on 7's and 225-245 fit on 8s.

I got a chance to check mine, and they are
205/60-15 on 7" in front
215/60-15 on 8" in back

Plenty of room to go bigger if needed, but these look correct to me.

Thanks guys!

A very good tyre for those wheels is Falken. I put them on my car.

Notwithstanding that some may want a less compliant tyre, IMO I see a lot of cars with too small profile so it does not fill the arches, so I've gone for a 60:
205 x 60 x 15 front
215 x 60 x 15 rear

A period correct tyre would be Avon CR6ZZ or Michelin TB 15 but they are very expensive and won't last that long unlike the Falken.

Longstone Tyres in UK do a great comparison chart for period correct tyres:

Has anyone tried the BF Goodrich T/A Radial?
It has a tread pattern that looks some what like the old race tire "chain link"
White letters turned inside of course biggrin.gif

Maybe these size combo may work:

F 205/60/15
R 225/60/15

F 215/60/15
R 225/60/15

The 225/60/15 spec show it's rated for 6-8" width size wheels.
The 215/60/15 is shown for 6.5-7.5"

The stock tires were approximately 25" diameter.

i saw these this morning in an email from Hemmings this morning for a stock car, I love the look.

Thanks Chris.

I have been looking at Falken 225/50/R15s and 205/55/R15s which a number of others have used, haven't looked at /60 sizes but am keen to fill out the arches as well.

Anyone else running 60s?

Cheers
