I am new to the 914 club and new to Porsche in general. I guess I only own 1/2 a Porsche really! This one I didn't start but am glad to have. The car has all Renegade conversion parts, a 400 plus HP Chevy V8 with Edelbrock heads and port fuel injection. The motor is fresh and still needs a lot of work. The transmission is a 930 built by Renegade, and the suspension and brakes are all 930. I have never driven or driven in a 914 of any kind tho I have has a few fast sports cars. I spent 20 years working for General Motors dealers as a drive-ability / fuel injection specialist, so I know a bit about how cars work. My last car was a 93 Twin turbo Mazda Rx7 with about 300 hp but didn't like the engine package with its low torque rotary turbo engine. Its great to see these cars around and looking sweet. Almost 30 years ago I saw a V8 914 and always wanted to build one. John Irvine Ca.

Hey John,

Welcome. beerchug.gif  I too recall seeing you on the chev board. The story behind your car was  pretty interesting as if I am remembering right?.  Tell us more.

This acquisition has taken 3 or 4 months to finely happen, but I am still awaiting the transport Co. to deliver the car.
I first emailed the owner 3 or 4 months ago and it took him a month to reply. In the mean time he moved from MN. to the east coast. When I emailed him for details he would take sometimes 3 weeks to get back to me but I just kept the faith. He and his uncle were building the car but his uncle got sick and sadly pass away. The car sat in a MN. warhorse for 2 years. Well we agreed on a price quickly but I wanted to use an escrow service to handle the transaction. It took some time to find an escrow co. that was legitimate. Then I had to wait another 2 or so weeks to get a reply back. I was thinking this would never happen. In the mean time I called Scott at renegade and asked him about the car. Scott told me the car had nothing but the best parts and really was going to be something special. I guess they spent around 16,000 dollars just at renegade. That doesn't count the engine and many other upgrades. Well we finely got together using his brother to broker the deal with the car in MN. I am now waiting for the car to get here. It should be here in a few weeks. It seems the transporters who drive the trucks hate to deal with non running cars. I have 14 days to inspect the car before the money can be released by the escrow co. If I don't like the deal I can veto it within the inspection period. I am going to take my time completing the car and the first thing I will do is completely insulate the body/interior. My goal is to make the car as civilized as possible. That means a lot of work insulating everything against noise and vibration, as well as installing A/C. This is going to be a road car thats driven every day.... wish me luck!!!! ha ha ha
