Full Version: Door pocket misshapen

The drivers side door pocket is terribly misshapen on the bottom, it sags like a belly of heavy beer drinker. I know it is supposed to be straight across.

The pleather is in wonderful condition with all staples still attached and rust free. I'm not sure what the material underneath (the body of the pocket) is. I reckon it is a hard formed cardboard. I can't figure out why the sag, but the sag is to the point where the door does not close easily as the sag interferes.

Now the question is how can I (a hands on guy) get the form back and the sag out?
I don't want to disturb/remove the pleather if I can help it. I'm doing everything I can to keep the vehicle as original as possible.

Any ideas?

There should be 3 screws at the bottom. If they are missing, it will droop.

Your answer water and time, yes a press board base material.

I replaced mine with a fiberglass one. I think it was from 914rubber?

I think the door looks better without it. Recover the door card and add an RSR-type pull. smile.gif
