Sir, if you part this car, I would like the first chance to buy the complete steering column/ignition switch. Terrible accident. Looks like it protected you in the crash. Did you have any injury?

Fix it...

Sixes are getting REAL rare....
Gint
I'd definitely look into fixing it. But then I'm biased.

Do you have better and recent pictures? I am amazed that you still have it 23 years after you wrecked it.... Lets see the critical areas - but based on the threads here - FIX IT !!!!!!!!!!! And you might as well put steel flares on it while you are at it-

agree.gif Fix it. I know you can do it too Jeff. The six Vin numbers have dwindled to a pretty low number. I have seen people on the club save worse 4cyl cars.

Save "MY SIX"! welder.gif

You should, at least, try to fix it. If it can't be done, then it can't be done. But then again, I have seen a lot of things that can't be done, get done around here.
CptTripps
Send it to me...give me a week or so. wink.gif

Alot of people here are probably interested in a 6, no matter what condition. Its all in the VIN
914werke
Jeff wheres it been hiding? I dont recall seeing it in the Garage (evan after the BIG sale)? I still remember it when it was pristeen because I was living down the street from you and would see it/you on occasion.
My opinion, sell the White car and fix this one. wink.gif

Get a Cali tub and fix it by transfering the parts to another shell. You'll have a better car and the vin and title can be used on the new shell. Anyone that takes issue with this is goofy. Whats the difference if you hack the 6 down to the pan to complete the repairs or you transfer the stamping into a good car. With all the cowl and pillar damage on that thing It would be cut to ribbons before it was ready to transfer any good panels to it.
mihai914
agree.gif with JoeSpark and Rick, Porsche use to sell a complete body as a part, what is the difference if you buy a used body just like buying a used alternator... Just find a nice 71 tub or 72 depending on the year of your six and transfer everything.

Transfering tags is not unheard of, I am willing to bet my car that there are some -6s out there with the proper VIN but with a 914/4 body. The only thing I would say is that if you're going to do it, do it well!

Yup, fix it or sell it to someone who will. Try & save the tub, but if not, re-tub it. Whatever you do, SAVE IT! smile.gif

Note to self: Don't buy a "real" six from Joe or Rick

Hi Guys

This is what I would do :
Buy it from you discretely, private sale. (leaves options open)
Find a clean tub, it would have to be stripped, a six project might even merit an acid bath. The tub now becomes a "part"
Start tranfering everythin that is good on the smashed car to the tub, on a rotisery. Special attention to specific six stuff, like the colum.
After resto, take it too a couple meets, pics , biuld a history with the car, watch your investment grow.

Document everything. If its done RITE, this is a much better car then a fixxed smash of that degree. Don't get me wrong, anything is fixable, just the long term end results won't be satifactory.
Scrub the tub adub bub screwy.gif
I am thinking that the person that will eventually do this project, need to be a huge 914 fan, with resorces, money and parts. If you run out of either, and cut corners, the car will have a "repair" value insted of a "perfect resto" value.

How much of the resto documentation, you want to disclose is up to you, but if the job is not a six to the last detail, is bad Karma.

For an origional 6, its worth the effort, investment vrs return...like all restos...but its a 6 mueba.gif
Anyone that is doing or has done a resto, will agree, you need heart, this is a fucking project, not the 2 week kind.

This is a cool post, maybe we should ask "how would you fix it" and see what members chime in.
At the very least, your gonna get some options..
