I knew one push rod tube was leaking but when i put the car on the ramp yesterday it appears i have an oil leak on the other side of the engine that looks like it's coming from between head and barrel.

Does this sound like something common and known?

It’s possible, but it’s more likely a leak from the oil pressure sender area on top of the motor, dripping down.

Thanks for the tip. I checked and the switch does look wet.

The catalogue gives a part number of 911 606 230 00

Given that they're type 4 vw motors i should be able to get one from one of the air cooled sellers over here but they list different oil pressure values.

What is the correct pressure for a w code 1.7?

Not sure if the same switch was used on all motors but on my 2.0, it's .15-.45 bar. Here's a pelican link, in case you've got other stuff you need shipped across the pond...
