I don't have a parts book/s to identify a part application, but, I have the number and a description.
A truck load of 914 parts came my way this weekend. It will take a while to sort thru things. One item caught my attention, a muffler, but I don't know the application of engine. 1.7, 1.8, 2.0 ?
Banana shaped, reversed stamped VW 039251, Bischoff, 11/7/5 (I think)
I am also looking at a stock exhausts for a number. And wondering the same thing on them. Oval shape into the heads but not flat at the rear like my '74 exhausts. These raise maybe 1.5 2.0 inches then straight back at the end.
Any tips would be helpful
Thank you

Aftermarket, looks like 2.0, couple of threads, the 914world link is about paint but the OP's muffler has the same number. You could PM him and ask about the fit

Sorry for the cast shadow on the exhaust pipes (blame the photographer), I wasn't thinking and had to rush to work. But, one can just see the end of the exhaust is raised about two inches. I am open to opinions.

If it's a 2.0 muffler it probably won't work with those heat exchangers, they look like 1.7-1.8

So why would they not? Would it be the C-C of the inlet?
Is it bowlsby that has pix of the yearly variation? I will look.

so there we go.... just 1-1/2" too long. Not what "she said".
http://bowlsby.net/914/Classic/zTNT_Exh_MufflerID.jpgI also see that the 2.0 version does not have the rise at the rear.
