some pics, 15x8 RSR weidman, I added a single piece form another Fuch, single seem, Now 15x9... 15x8 with inch addedd to inside.....

They look good. Will these fit rear GT flares?

As far as staggered wheel widths front vs rear. I think part of the current stagger use these days, is probably because it was used on race cars back in the day. I also believe thinner front allows for slightly better straight line acceleration. Another reason is because it looks awesome! smile.gif

they will not fit PMBs 914.... evidententally your not getting it...when it comes to anything other than a 15x8,,,,tire cross section is huge....16x9 usaully fit. but they really never made a decent sized street tire , most 245/16s might as well be a 225... back in the 90s
the GTs with race tires there are 2 types period correct or lower profile modern......if you look at the GTs that the wide Minilites/big rubber in back you have to know there has been some work done....
that said the inside 9s, at least you can shim in and out.. unlike an Factory 15x9

when you see a combo you like request a measurement from inner fender well to inside outer fender..then you have some facts....

I have 2 GT's can run all the same tire wheel combos, one is factory GT flairs, the other is also factory GT flairs, but with 1.5 added, lots of room .
only a finger close on the the other GT,,,,,

So yes they will fit, with spacers. And 15x9 tire size availability doesn't help much. popcorn[1].gif

I started using the staggered (wider rear) setup when I added substantially more power via an engine swap -- even with Hoosier DOT-R tires the rear with only 205's would break loose on corner exit in 2nd even 3rd gear. It made the car very tricky to drive quickly. The car still chirps the rears now even with the stickier, wider slicks on 9's but overall grip is vastly better. In front as noted above you don't have the same traction and weight needs and a slightly narrower front setup helps keep heat in the tires, helps aero, and saves weight.
sixnotfour
Eric PMB has real tight GT fenders 15x8 max......
My Green GT has real GT fenders real 15x9 245/50....
the 15x9 with1" inside added = 9 was an attempt to put a bigger wheel under Erics GT,
that ended me with the wheels,,so no/yes will they fit

You will never know your fit limit without this measurement, Start a measurement chart tied to fitment is you real answer
Thanks Armanondo, I borrowed a photo..........

agree.gif more grip .... I really like the deep dish 8's and 9's look. I like how the braid wheels retain the 15" rim step on the larger 16", 17" diameters. smile.gif

ok makes more sense. I widened my AA GT flares by 9.14mm in the rear and reduced the size of the inward pointing fender lip to mimic the thinner factory flare lip.

I will take that 'armando' pic measurement and post my numbers in a bit smile.gif

I widened using similar method to this 'armando' site pic below.

BTW I measured my rear GT fenders, from inside wall to inside of flare 'lip' and it measures 11.375" on both sides. However accounting for suspension travel, I would reduce the usable space about .5" to 1", to prevent rubbing on inside wall.

8x15’s are pretty cheap, 7x15’s are getting pricey. 9x15 are just expensive.

Due to tire options and wanting to keep the drivetrain and un-sprung weight on the lighter end of the scale ... it appears 7s and 8s are winning out smile.gif .... I also do not want to tax the chassis and suspension too much with excessively wide/soft rubber. beerchug.gif

I'm doing a set of 7&8x15 for the flared car and maybe a set of 6x15 for my narrow body 3.2 with soft sticky tires for playtime. I'm not worried about the chassis or suspension. It's a Porsche. It's meant to be driven hard. If I do over tax it, I'll fix it.

sounds great .... I like being able to break loose when needed .... 7s & 8s with 205/50-15 and 225/50-15 and AA traction rating are plenty for a small, 45 year old, street car that weighs 2k-ish pounds ....... my GT tribute will be a driver as much as possible, though I know it will find a way to break in one way or another ... popcorn[1].gif

I have a narrow body 914 and I can fit 16x7's front and rear, so if you go out of your way to install flares it only makes sense to use wheels that will fit correctly with your flares. So 15x8 or 16x8 in the front and 15x9 or 16x9 in the rear should work. Otherwise, what's the point of flaring the fenders if you're going to run narrow, goofy looking wheels? And if you can fit even wider wheels, do it, these cars look best with the entire wheel well filled....

It all depends on tire availability.. which could be limited in both 15" and 16" diameters.

That said, I liked one I saw with 8x15 fronts and 9x16 rears.

hmm, I wonder if this awesome yellow gt has 8x15 front and 9x16 rear? idea.gif

Probably 225/245.

I had some identical wheels for a while and maybe those are them! With my Tangerine flares and customized suspension, the 951 16x8 fronts just wouldn't clear so I went down to 15's. I thought about keeping the 16's in back but not sure a short enough tire was/is available.

I personally would go with 225/45-16 and 245/45-16 if running 8 & 9 x 16 fuchs smile.gif
that would make the front tire a tad smaller diameter which helps in a few areas. Like more clearance for turning (less possibility of rubbing) and better bump steer effect if lowered smile.gif

We run into that on 911’s, especially widebody. Our cars were designed around the smaller wheels with fatter tires. It’s a different profile than large wheels with low pro tires. On one widebody 911 we build, the body had to sit up very high to fit the wheels. It was what the customer speced and he was very tall but it was really noticeable next to another 911. Russo, who’s probably 5’5”, called it the Paris Dakar special. Even though everyone on pelican champions 17” wheels, those extra two inches make a difference. New cars are obviously designed around a very different profile.

I agree with mepstein, 17" is too large for such a small car. Appearance wise, 16" is max diameter on a 914 IMO smile.gif
