Spotted some 15 x 7 & 8” , wondering if they willlook correct on a GT clone, I’d rather not use big spacers..

I have the exact same idea.. but don't have the car and wheels in the same place to try it out...

Here's some data:

The 944 Fuchs 15x7 have an offset (ET) of 23.3mm; the 15x8 are ET 10.6mm. Compare that to the 15x5.5 4-lug Fuchs' ET of 42mm.

So, it seems the backspacing is almost identical on all three Fuchs sets at ~4.9in, which means you won't need a spacer to avoid hitting any suspension bits with the INSIDE of the rim/tire.. which is good.

That also means the extra wheel width will all be to the outside: the fronts will stick out 1.5" and the rears 2.5" further on each side than the 4-lug Fuchs.

Depending on how big you go with your GT flares, you may end up wanting spacers if the wheels don't fill up the space.

To me, the 7&8x15 are perfect for looks, ride height, steering effort and price. Everyone will have a preference but at least this size is tried and true. It will fit any GT flared car without issues.

I was worried about the backspacing, are the 944 ones much different than the 911 15 x7 & 8 ?

If you flare the front you have to space out the wheel 1 to 1.5". Otherwise it doesnt look right. 7" front wheels will fit on a stock bodied car. I personally have 100mm studs and run 1.5" of spacers. With the longer studs you dont have to worry about the spacers coming loose. Works Great!

I got a set from a 944 and one from a 911 and they are identical. Now I don't know if they were factory original. Maybe someone that knows more will chime it. But all 15x7's and 15x8's I've ever seen were the same offset.

The early 15" Fuchs are all 911 part numbers and should be the same - assuming they are "real" Fuchs. The later 16" Fuchs have different 911 vs 951 (aka 944 turbo) part numbers.

8" - 951 Fuchs (from a 944) have a different offset. They look like 7's from the front and sit closer to suspension than a 911- 8" fuchs. That's why the narrow body 911 guys like them on the front. You would pay a premium and not really need them. They go for around $1200-1500/pair.

I had a set of 951 7s and 8s .... but I sold the 7s ..... I should have kept the 7's and sent them to get widened ..

The 951 7s are the same as the 911. 7s 16 That is in my picture.

Actually, we are in luck there. There are several options to put good tires on them for a GT in the correct 195/65 or 185/70 front and 215/60 rear, all of which perform well and look period correct:

Avon CR6ZZ
Pirelli P6000 N2 (Porsche approved)
Pirelli CN36

I'd do the P6000s on the street (I am running the Avons and don't love them), which is what you see on the yellow car above. Are they as good as modern autocross or track tire? No. But those can be had, too. 225/50R15 allows one to go square on seriously sticky rubber, and then there are dedicated race tires.

And if you want vintage looks with SERIOUS performance, you can always go the Michelin TB15 route...

951 7s have a different offset than 911 7s. Look at recessed lug seats of 951 7s compared to 911 7s lug sockets.

This is the look I want and the wheels I have for my V8 car. It is going to take a little flair or bumping out the rear. My car had 7 x 16 911 wheels before as you can see in my avatar.

This is what the factory was doing back in the day with the 15" rims and spacer options. 6" I think was the deep six 7" the 7R off the back of the 911ST

There is ANO page but just lists 72mm long studs

I'm going to use my set of 7&8" x 15 that originally came off a RS

Tyres options are more limited in 15" for sure, but 16" rims / tyres look too low profile to me - personal preference
