My car will be staying with a mechanic for the next 2 weeks or so. The engine is leaking too much and I'm having it resealed. Looks like I'll be driving on of our Fords. I can flat tow a car with my Flex, if anyone would rather ride with us. I have the tow bar that gets bolted to the car
I'll bring along some tow bar brackets so if a support vehicle is needed you could bolt right up.

With family in Seattle (North Bend) we have done 90 a lot. That was the original plan, but now we are thinking of 90 and then dipping south to see the Tetons. The last time we were there Yellowstone was on fire.
With a conversion I have to be thinking 911 and 914 spares. Looking forward to seeing all y'all.

I was just looking at the map and if you're dipping down to the Tetons you'd be hooking into Boise to continue out. I'm thinking of driving up to join in the fun and if I do, we could meet up around there and I could show you the coool way to get there! Whaddya think?

Sounds good, I’ll pm you when we get started West. Looked into the lodge and even though it would be grand, 350 is kinda steep for one night, so maybe staying in Jackson Hole. Fixed the electric windshield washer line to Adam. Leaked, but thought it was the tank.

Good luck! I leave tomorrow. Just picked up an extra relay and other spares. I realized I am oriented towards spares for the 2056 not the 3.2. Packed my clothes today, and have them loaded. My passenger is being extraordinarily brave in packing a duffel of sorts. The hair dryer is redundant with the top in the trunk. With my clothes. Getting cooked. She says she isn’t about to drive, but one of us has been in the seat of a logging truck, and it ain’t me, so I know we are golden.

Sorry I won’t get to meet you a second time. Hard work to make things work.
Well, it rained on my car for a few miles but we made it to Sioux Falls. Pulled the door card off on the driver side before we made it out of the driveway. It’s a 72, so the window popped out of the worm drive. Now have to reattach the door latch inside of the passenger side.
More embarrassing is a problem with the wiring to the triple gauge. The fuel gauge reads full all the time and the brake warning light flickers. The SD speed limit is 80, so that means hours at 3000 revs tomorrow blue skies as we pulled in for a rest at the motel.
Maybe Yellowstone by Monday. Or Tuesday.

My mechanic just called to let me know that cylinders #3 & #4 intake valve guides are loose on my fresh engine (12k miles - 4% leak down per cylinders prior)
- i just completed a 3500 mile run to socal and back with 2 track days - i made sure to stay under the redline throughout, as well as not to turn off the engine when hot (let cool down 1st) - i hope to get an update soon
- i don't want to be "that guy," but if the 914 is down, i'll bring my early 911, and i'll stay in the rear (but not behind a water cooler or newer porsche, damnit!)
- this is why i have valve adjustment/oil changes, inspections done every 3500 miles
thanks again to all of the organizers and sponsors throughout!!!

Pulled in to Gillette WY.
This morning I fixed Donnas door latch pull. Weak clip, tried to cable tie, but the lasso missed. Appropriate because we passed a rodeo today. Broc riding.
Then the temp gauge started to flutter with conniptions and died in the red. All of yesterday was 70 mph with the gauge on the low end. So...op looks ok. Settled for not going to the 80 mph speed limit and kept moving. There may be a short, although I ran most of that wire myself. There is a fundamental problem of matching a 46 year old roller (fuel sender) with a 30 something engine temp sender with gauges of similar vintage and expecting them to all work on the first big test.
Here I am in the driveway fixing the window.
Any advice on the temp issue? Gas mileage is about 25, so I don’t need that to work. Other than that I am just old. Can’t blame Porsche for that.

3 911's coming - ughhh!? mine's a '73 so at least it's old!
i was so psyched to have my freshly completed '76 914-4 "2.1S" at this event - only 14 years to get to this point!
i was so happy to have everything done that my recent 3500 mile trip just completed included 2800 miles with the pac west r gruppe to their annual treffen near solvang, ca and track day at willow springs (last time the 914 was at willow springs was the 1st 914 west coast classic starting in san jose) - 2nd track day was with the apha club at pacific raceways last week - maybe i should have taken my early 911 to those events and saved the 914 for the WCR?!
(here's my lonely silver 914 at the bottom of the treffen parking lot in this clip - a few other 914-6's were there too

The jack stands are used to run the strings between.
Then you have to measure and move the stands around until you have teh strings parallel to each other and the center-line of the car. It is a PIT but it can work.
I have someone I will ask about Smart strings and maybe even some digital scales.
He does a fair amount of suspension prep and may not be willing to be without these for most of a week but I can ask.
Anyone know if there is flat level pavement at the Hotel to do this type work?

No on the string gauge at Rothsport. All we carry in the race tools are toe plates.
Got the new rear wheel bearing in my car last night. So I should be good to go.
Tonight is checking the front wheel bearings on Mike's (Warpig) car.Changed out roll pin on shifter console. Helped clean the window frame for a new windshield.Wednesday night, yet to be determined.
Change of plans, working on Matt's oil tubes Wednesday AM then heading to Rothsport. Jeff's going to teach me how to do an alignment and corner balance on my car.Wednesday PM or Thursday AM. Change out one of the push rod tubes in Matt's car.
Looks like I got 5 of the 6 leakers to stop dripping on the first swing at it.
