The pin stripes were hand painted by a contract artist for the dealer when new (before delivery). I know it's a bit strange today, but it was all the rage back in the day. Being that its original paint, I don't mind it as much. It's just a sign of the times. Surprising how many hipsters saw the car yesterday at our monthly gathering and commented how much they liked the pin striping and "what was it." I chuckled.
This was a very common dealer-add on for our area back in the day. Also, you will notice the engine-turned thresholds, which was also very common from the dealers back in the day. However, this is the first I've seen on a 914. Most of the ones I've seen were on 911s.
