note the differences in the cover plate with it and the one i just got from a member-
so i was considering a alternator upgrade-
advice appreciated of course.

also ntw that the new plate opening is too small to fit properly

old one I just took off had 2 parts plastic and metal

Your alternator is the early 50A. The 75-76 cars should have the 55A. Not a major deal though. I am thinking you may have some mix and match. VW bus and VW 411/412 used this same alternator. Seems like someone did a show and tell about the cover differences.
