Oh come all ye Hoosiers...

I'll be heading to the land of corn and Round-e-Rounders July 21st through the 24th for a NAMM trade show. I'll be taking my major clients (music industry types) out to din-din. The trade show is usually in Nashville (that would be the Tennessee one Doug... laugh.gif ) so I know all the haunts there but this year they switched it to Indy.

I need some top-notch restaurant recommendations by the convention center. If they're really good I can drive a bit.

Thanks in advance...

Two really nice places downtown that I've been too multiple times are Palomino ($$) and St. Elmo's ($$$$)

Others that I haven't been to: Schula's, Ruth's Chris

If you are just looking for places to go for yourself and not impress the bigwigs, and if you like ethnic food, let me know and I have a longer list of fav's

Oh, I just remembered a great website for Indy area restaruants:

Digitalcity -- great restaruant guide

Thanks... let me go wander through the list. St. Elmo's and Ruth's Chris are kinda more inline.

St. Elmos's - legendary!

Be sure to get the shrimp cocktail - unreal!

St Elmo's shrimp cocktail... drooley.gif definately not what you would expect! Mike Ditka was 2 tables over when I was there a few years back.

I think I've got it nailed. St. Elmos for sure. There's a good listing and a map on the convention center web site. I like to get recommendations here though... Here's what I've got:

Steak
St. Elmo's
Ruth's Chris
Morton's
Eagle's Nest (at my hotel)

Seafood
Oceanaire
Keystone (road trip from the convention center right?)

Eagle's Nest is very good, but if you (or business relations) are prone to motion sickness, think twice about this place. It is a revolving dining room on top of the hotel. I've been there once, and while it didn't bother me, I overheard people at the table next to me complaining about the motion. I think it takes 30 minutes to do one rotation...

Very good food though chowtime.gif

And re:St Elmos shrimp cocktail, I arranged for a bachelor party dinner there a number of years ago. It was the first time many of us had been at the place (in the Director's room -- direct access to a very nice wine cellar). The waiter warned us the sauce was hot. Slight understatement wink.gif

Morton's is another high end steakhouse. Like Elmo's but maybe a little quieter atmosphere...
Eric_Shea
I've been to enough Morton's that I think they should name one after me by now. I've got the waiters big-ass lobster routine down pat.

With the Eagles Nest I could have them put me in a laundry cart and wheel me to my room. That's a plus... I don't care if my client ralphs or not. laugh.gif ohmy.gif barf.gif

Are you going to have time for any 914 stuff while out here?
Eric_Shea
Not sure... maybe Sunday evening if I don't have a client thing. It would be fun smilie_pokal.gif

St. Elmos IS the place for steak and a great shrimp cocktail in Indy.

If you have time, let's get beerchug.gif

I'll keep you guys posted... FLying in on the 21st and out the AM of the 25th
