Here is what I have / know:
- '72 w/ '75 2.0 motor w/ Webers
- couple months ago, intermittent problem not starting...turn key, no click, nothing
-- wait a few min, start right up.
- got starter rebuilt, worked like a champ for about a week. Then started doing same thing except, I got "click"
- took starter back to dude who rebuilt, had him check it out...says its fine.
-- says I need at least 10v to fully activate solenoid
- battery is at 12.4v, terminals 12.4v
- main cable to starter getting 12.4v (unloaded)
- when starter switch activated, terminal lead to solenoid only getting ~8.3v...WTF?
- thought maybe the ign switch bad, ordered and replaced. no change...aaarrrghhh!
- obviously there is some voltage drop between switch and solenoid? What am i missing?
Very frustrating...I need HELP!...I am tired of rolling down my driveway to start.

Check all the grounds. Especially at the alternator. Yes. the alternator!

Also if you find that its still not quite right, try running a ground from the starter to the battery ground.. big ol fat cable, Fixed my starting problem real quick.. I have some pics somewhere if you need help.

where do i find the alt ground? I see the pos wire/cable running from alt up thru eng tin and into main wiring, but I don't see the ground.

WOO HOO!! Got it fixed. Couldn't have been any simpler. Called my dad, he said that one of the 2 fuses on the circuit board protects the line to the solenoid. Those fuses are prone to corrosion. All I did was spin them in place...didn't even have to take them out! My dad ROCKS!
If anyone else is having starting probs, you might want to check it out.

clean that board up. treat yourself to a brace of new fuses.
