i have two questions:
1) How do I remove the CV joint......The bolts are gone but its still attached....whats the procedure here?

2)The engine is caught on the shift rod......it's removed from the back of the tranny but I don't know how to get the rod out of the way........

3) My clutch cable pulley is wearing down......anybody have a GOOD one?

I seperated my CV's with a flat screwdriver. You have to twist the shift rod around and it will slide out. Don't have a clutch pulley.

1. There is a pin that mates up with holes in the flange on the tranny. Take a flat blade screwdriver and carefully pry the C/V off the flange.

CV's - flat screwdriver - use new gaskets on reassembly.

shift rod. 1 CONE screws at the front where it goes into the body. allen head,

get to it!

1. I have used a putty knife to wedge between the cvjoint to seperate it from the tranny. You'll need new gaskets.

2. I remove the engine and tranny both at the same time as one unit. The shift rod should come off before you try to get the engine/tranny out. (you should get a Haynes manual or doundload the engine removal procedure from PP.

3. Sorry, I don't have a spare cable but they are available from all the usual sources. (Don't go to a FLAPS for it).

Cone screws are 4mm hex......Harbor Freight tools, set is cheap.

I used a big rubber mallet on the cv joints, tap and turn, a 4mm allen key will remove the cone head screw on the shifter rod near the firewall. When you get new cv joint gaskets store them away from your other parts, they are brittle and will crumble (know from experience, unfortunately)

The pully is available from any Wire and Rope dist.
Standard size.If you can't find a wire rope place , sailboat parts will work. Also steering pullys from an outboard moter steering system will work.
Do I detect a marine theme here?

whatya need an 18mm for????

19mm is the one you REALLY need as well as a 15mm

18 is for one of the engine mount....or was it the tranny mount....one of them needed 18...i think its the crossmember bolt.

i agree about the rachet wrench...i have a 10mm for the dizzy bolt.....

I spent TWO days looking for the correct CV tool when my bolt turned out to be a 6mm hex bolt.

but the engine is hanging on 2 stands right now....in limbo
