1975 1.8 FI.

Looking to confirm the fuel line size for replacing the stock plastic lines. I'd like to get the SS lines eventually but not in the budget now so figure I would go with rubber hoses from the stock forward mounted pump. Wondering if 5/16 (8mm) is the size for both lines?

Thanks!

Good morning! I had 75 1.8FI that I replaced original fuel lines from along tunnel and along the engine bay with SS fuel lines. It will not cost you more than $150 for the SS lines including rubber grommets.

Bought the kit from Rotary’14 (Robert) a member here.

First, I would not even consider putting rubber lines in the tunnel. If you cant go with preformed SS lines then at least look into buying 3/8 stainless tube and using it in the tunnel. it is about $3/foot. not my preference but I have seen people use coiled tube as well and you can get it for abut $25 for 25 feet or so.

I think the standard size is 5/16 or 8mm.

Thanks for the tip! I just PM'd him...that's a great deal.

I use 5/16 brake line. 5' is just enough to run a couple inches into the engine Bay and thru the front grommet. Under $25.00

I've been inquiring about fuel line hoses for the last six weeks here. Nobody told me about Tangerine. WTH boys? I've run quality rubber lines through the tunnel. They are different sizes. Could not find SS tubing in metric anywhere. Braided, rubber hoses will not last as long, but I'll be dead before they corrode.

Be careful with the braided hose. Make sure it’s rated for ethanol E85 blended fuels...or you might be dead BECAUSE they corrode. God forbid.

Here’s the Tangerine fuel line install video I made. Hope it helps.

I guess you could have asked "ndfrigi" when he suggested stainless lines and posted pictures of stainless lines in your thread about fuel hose.

Fuel hose in the tunnel will last quite awhile but as a permanent fix, hard lines are better. I'm not a big fan of steel braided line because it chaffs the heck out of everything near it and I hate working with it but the tunnel is pretty safe place for it.

Sorry I drink a lot and missed the post for the past six weeks! It takes a bit of time to get the right information here but occasionally the right person will sober up!

Not knocking anyone else’s products or suggestions but Tangerine only makes the best. I have a number of Chris products on my car and they are all top quality. No mistake you will get your moneys worth.

Well, thanks gentlemen. Anyone need quality rubber fuel line hose? I have about 15' of it. Never knew about Tangerine. I saw the name a lot, but thought it described the color of my car. I don't doubt they are a quality outfit. Wish I knew about them earlier. Yeah, it's the newbie stuff.

I'm old and get confused sometimes, so please help me out here. You started this thread only two days ago and got several immediate answers warning against rubber in the tunnel. Yet, you put rubber in anyway. That makes no sense to me. Then you say you didn't know that tangerine made steel lines, and it's our fault? You started another thread on this same topic a few weeks ago and got the same warnings about rubber vs steel. Yet you still installed rubber lines? confused24.gif
