I broke an inner CV joint on my Subaru powered 914, and have traced the culprit to an axle which is too short. I am having axels redone, while I am at it thought I would upgrade the outer CV’s to 930 units. Will they just bolt in? I have looked at other threads, but could use a more specific answer.

and here is eric shea's 108mm info

you'll need some specific parts for either upgrade

The 930 stubs are pricey. Do you need turbo or can you make do with early 911 ‘70-72 - 108mm cv’s. They are usually good for ~200-250hp, depending on your driving habits.

I would go 100mm for your power level. 100% available and way cheaper than 930. You can go the 100mm stub axles or machine some adapters. (I happen to have some spares, but I am keeping them smile.gif )

VW Bus uses the 100mm CV's and there are multiple sizes of axles lengths for choosing. I was able to make a standard off the shelf size work for my setup... I can run into any parts store and get a spare drop in axle that will handle 500hp... For $79...

I just dyno’d 265 at the wheels, and by the end of summer I will be at 325 at the wheels.

No real advantage to the 930 CV's, they are still 108mm. They are 6mm shorter and will work at a greater angle which makes them the offroaders CV of choice. One company offers CrMo cages, but again it's for the extreme angles off roader's with huge lift run at.

G50 CV's are also 108mm and can be modified to work on early 108mm stubs, it's what I have on my teen.

108mm with 325hp shouldn't be a problem.

Buy these and never buy another CV.

Or these if you don't want to run sliding axles.
