Shouldn't this be in the vendor forum? The last thing I want to see is a lazy George selling warez in our garage. Do what you want in your own forum. Keep your commercialism out of ours.

It has been acknowledged it is ok to post here as 914Rubber does it too. There are lots of members that do not go to the vendor section.

Doesn't make it right, and it's irrelevant if people don't visit the vendors. This is the garage, not the garage sale.

I personally like seeing these fire deals/group buys on here every month or so from the different vendors. A lot of people benefit from them. I don't think enough people read or even know about the vendor forum, nor is it organized in any fashon that makes it easily readable.

Then NO vendors should post in the garage. Personally I like to see deals and group buys versus having to check the vendor forum.

This wasn't a group buy. Some vendors just abuse it. Okidoke, free for all then since there are no rules.

George just started posting his stuff here recently. Marks been doing it heavy for years. Both are providing further aftermarket support and competition which brings prices down and availability up.

I don't see how this isn't a win win for the 914 community....

Mark doing it for years didn't make it right. George brings a stink with it that smells worse. Whatever, I'm over it and don't care anymore. Just be ready to enforce rules if more people start selling in the garage. If it's an open ticket, it will become a thing eventually. Put it off for now.

If you actually want to sell something why don't you show a picture of it to show us the best on the market part you claim?

I am not impressed by a pile of crushed boxes. Just makes me wonder if the parts inside got damaged if that is how the maker packs them.

I was black-balled from even contacting Automobiles Atlanta on eBay. He knows what he's doing. I would NEVER deal with this scammer.

And some other vendors started commmunicating with the manufacturer
directly to see if other variations were possible.

dr914 (aka George) thinks he can sneak back in here hawking his wares and ignoring any accountability for past transgressions, even going so far as accusing someone of being impolite. In my memory, every other vendor who has been called out for mistakes, omissions or questionable policies has stood up and taken responsibility for their actions. But not George...if you're not kissing his ass he's just going to ignore the critics like they don't exist. This thread is a case in point. I think he's back over here because he's lonely on his website, where active posters don't exist.

Somehow this smells like More like he wanted a way out so he makes it sound like they flew of the shelves.

I see no problem of our vendors posting here. I don’t check the forums as often. I appreciate our vendors because we would be in a world of shit without them.

I want vendors to post here too. While I get grumpy gruffy mcgruffrson, it does need to be kept real. Some abuse is ok. The people around here will keep it real.

At the risk of offending some people the need to get this information out is more important than the rules. We are all fans of the 914. While I may chose to take a different approach there is no question about Georges commitment to the 914. You can love or hate him but if this is a good deal I am a buyer. I have no interest in his success or failure. In fact I have been very critical of George in the past. But the reality is that there is not a long line of vendors that will even mention the 914. Feel free to love or hate George based on your past experience. But give the guy a bit of a break for supporting one of the most unloved Porsches. Flame away as you see fit. I am not advocating one vendor over another. But the list of vendors who support the 914 is becoming smaller every day.

One and done. Haven't looked back and that was 8-9 years ago. Every time this subject comes around I am reminded of the "Peanut's" comic strip's annual posting of Lucy tempting Charlie Brown to kick the football she is holding in place for him; again and again.

Past History says it OK to post group buy special deals here, and then move it to the vendor section. Personally, I only go to the vendor section to look up an item I need at that time...never on a regular basis. So,,,I'm happy to see the specials in Garage. If we're going to stop allowing the Dr to do this, the stop everyone from doing this. Yes, Mikey has a special place in our heart, but anyone saving me money has that place too. By the way, if you don't like to shop with Atlanta, then don't Money speaks louder than words anyday.

George shows crinkled up boxes that supposedly have nice bumper tops in them. He won't show the product installed or just sitting on a table. He's already untrustworthy, so why trust what he is hawking? I think he deserves the flak he gets. Most 914 people won't buy from him, ever.

I highly doubt that he sold all of the brown boxes.

Truths:

- It’s great to have a variety of vendors supporting the 914.
- complaints about vendors posting on the garage are rare.
- people have had a range of experiences dealing with Auto Atlanta.
- customers who have been burned have a right (and a responsibility) to be vocal and it helps add to our collective knowledge about which are the go-to vendors, and which are ones of last resort.
- we all wish someone as knowledgeable about our cars as George would have more integrity, but it’s clearly not a priority for him, and no post will change that. Or it would’ve happened long ago.
